Hard to believe but this weekend it will be 25 years since I joined Free Republic. Time sure flies when you're having fun.
Like so many others, for a few years I only browsed the site. Finally, one day I noticed a particularly interesting comment (possibly from Laz), and decided it was time to register on the site so I could start posting.
Jim, thanks for your efforts in starting this site and managing it over the years, and kudos also to those that help keep things running so well. I'm not sure how many more years the Lord will give me but I plan on visiting FR as long as it's here and I'm able.
Congrats Ken!
Congratulations on making it to 25 years on FR. May you have many, many more. I’ve been here going on 27 years, been retired for almost 21 years, and consider myself very fortunate to have lived this long, to have had the life I’ve had, and that I found Free Republic all those years ago.
A ‘98 guy here. Time flies!
👍
Thanks, and you resisted the urge to call me a newbie, though I’m sure someone else will. ;-)
Big deal nOOb...
Congrats. 26 1/2 years here. #1244 to sign back in after they moved platforms when they needed new servers.
Before that I found it on a Compuserve bulletin board.
Congrats, Texas
Congratulations

Somebody had to say it.

Congrats on your 25 th.
98, too. I started on a 486.
Congrats! Hard to believe, isn’t it? I was a newlywed in ‘98 when Drudge (lol) linked me here. Crazy.
Newb.
LOL.

Same for me - January 1998 from Drudge. Hard to believe that was a long time ago - it really doesn’t feel like it.
Happy 25th!!
LOL!! I guess it's an unwritten rule for us old farts on FR to point that out when people post their FR anniversary thread. Like you said, someone else will no doubt make that comment to you, but it wasn't going to be me.
There, I knew someone would come through. :-)
Congrats! I see I just missed my 22 year anniversary yesterday. I still remember sitting in a computer lab in college when I was first checking out this site that Rush Limbaugh had mentioned and the so called Freepers that inhabited it. I was sitting in the same chair when we had a big earthquake. FR has had a lot bigger impact on my life, though.
Yep, there are a lot of “rules” we try to keep track of. All in good fun, though.
