I was chatting with the dad about this topic, and came to a conclusion regarding de-escalation: there is nothing Trump can say regardless of how well his unity message comes across because Hitler would say anything to gain power (eye roll), and there isn't much Biden can do, either. I think we're in this mess due to the MSM amplifying insane things for click$ which feeds the social media echo chambers where it is further amped.
I hate the thought that it's possible the future of our nation now lies solely in the hands of the MSM. Maybe I see signs that at least somebody controlling the programming might recognize that, maybe a war this close to home might be bad for advertising sales, and that maybe axe-grinders like Morning Joe should take a break, and the news reader on NBC seemed quite... fair, regarding the total failure of protective services for Trump.
Is that my imagination? Is there some hope we chill out? I do know cities will burn this November, but maybe, maybe... maybe... we can avoid a shooting war.

However, I suspect the MSM was happy with all this hostility because it maximized engagement, which in turn fueled advertising and filled data lakes that they could sell to OpenAI. It was all fun and games before they saw Butler and realized gee…that could be ME in the line of fire.

I’m not all over, and it’s well known. It doesn’t matter to me if it doesn’t play into your world view. Covid broke a lot of people because many thought their own govs wouldn’t do anything to purposely harm them. They were wrong.
