There is a lot of talk these days about privileged white males.
I guess I am considered to be white.
I am a male.
Come from privilege?
My Dad was the youngest of 11 kids. His Dad lost the farm. My Dad dropped out of school in the sixth grade and ran away from home. He became a juvenile delinquent and worked menial jobs and lived in various places and with his older siblings until he was old enough to join the Army. Then he went to The Korean War and served on the front lines as a Combat Engineer.
My Mom grew up in a three room shack on the wrong side of the tracks in a small Middle American town. The house didn’t have a bathtub or shower. Her Dad went broke during The Depression and became an alcoholic who never worked. They only had Christmas presents and holiday meals from the local churches.
I think my background is pretty similar to millions of other “privileged” white American males in this country.
So tell me again all those sad liberal stories about people who never had a chance because people like me held them down.
Yeah, I come from privilege.
I think I understand.
My dad came from a relarively poor family in the midwest. Didn’t have much money. He quit some jobs and was fired from others.
Had to re-invent himself a couple of times.
Yeah, I came from privilege.
My privilege comes from Jesus Christ, my lord and savior.
There are European Americans who think they’re more American than the rest. Any group that wanted success had to go through them first. Tribal background don’t help-think blacks/American Indians. Europe was tribal. Lots of wars. what made them get along here? Open space. Survival. It wasn’t safe.
It is sad that the leftists get away with such obviously ridiculous narratives. The only thing that counts in this world is working hard & being careful to save & invest sensibly. It’s why the grandchildren of the wealthy end up poor, as they never had a work ethic inculcated in them.
my “privilege” was my Dad, whose father died of WWI wounds, and grew up with a single mom in the depression and shoveled coal when he was 10, and who worked multiple jobs to keep his children fed and educated, and my Catholic Mom who taught us how to control ourselves, how to behave in public, and how to defer gratification.
Very similar to mine..................
I hear ya
I heard that too
who taught us how to control ourselves, how to behave in public, and how to defer gratification.
have we gone and done likewise?
In a competitive world the non competitive folks lag behind the rest and the gap will always widen. Lessening that gap is where socialism comes in. Resentment in many forms puts the onus on the achievers as the poor will never go away. Lessening that gap was overdone with the Great Society and we’re paying the price. The question becomes how much do we help the less fortunate? Coming from privilege(specifically white) means it’s not enough. Will it ever be enough?
Need is always infinite.
That means the left will never be satisfied.
The only way to win that game is to refuse to play.
Privilege = hard work, dedication, delayed gratification, investing in the future
Take the NFL-PLEASE!
Every year the NFL has it’s draft of college players. The worst teams pick first. It gives the appearance of equality and competitiveness. They’re ‘doing something’ about it. In reality poorly run teams will always lose and the competition committee gets together every off-season to change the rules, not caring about competitiveness, just the dollar.
Expanded playoffs and an 18 game season milking he fans and the bodies of it’s players who often end up broke. Is. anyone involved in professional football a victim? Severe injuries perhaps. There aren’t too many except those that accrue over time.
White privilege has nothing to do with circumstances, but is an original sin. You are simply born with white skin and are thus tainted by white privilege and are automatically a racist oppressor.
My dad dropped out of school and forced his mother to sign the waiver to join the Air Force at 17. My mother grew up poor in south Dallas, her father installed engineered wood flooring, and had six kids to feed. I grew up in trailer parks and sub-standard 1950’s and 60’s military housing. I had to work to put myself through college. Yep...I’m privileged (/s). DEI can rot in hell.
Nothing will ever be enough for the perpetually-aggrieved
I worked up out of da bronx to obtain my privilege and easy retirement!
Family legend has it that one of my Dad’s forbears came over from Germany in the 1700s on a sailing ship.
He was to work aboard ship to pay the fare for himself, his wife and young son.
He was an inexperienced sailor and when he was sent up into the rigging, he fell overboard and was lost at sea.
When the ship arrived in Charleston, the services of his wife were sold at auction for as much tobacco as it would take to pay the balance of the fare.
After she worked out her time, she and her son set out on foot in a grueling journey to relatives in North Carolina.
She was in such hardship that she abandoned the boy once, but her conscience and grief soon made her return for him.
Yes, privileged she was.
“White privilege” is just a way of whipping up hatred and resentment against whites. If you believed an entire race of people had unfair, unearned privilege, and they were holding you back and causing every problem you suffered, of course you would hate and resent them. It’s all being done on purpose.
