An idiot. I can remember Alan Bates, a worldly individual, on a show-mighta been Merv Griffin. Talk subject was very intellectual. Some ditzy blonde kept interjecting. He said “I won’t get into a discussion with you because I don’t believe you have the brains for it”. Shocker.
Martin Mull was there. He had to call Bates a chauvinist. The crowd applauded. I was really listening intently until this happened. It was the tyranny of the majority. The blonde wasn’t smart enough to shut up neither was Martin mull.

How would I describe Martin Mull as I remember him?
He was Wickedly droll and delightfully dull in a Bob Newhart kind of way. The way we used to view Canadians.

One of those late-night shows I discovered as a teen. Everyone’s gone to bed, and I have the TV to myself...all three channels. Waiting tor Monty Python, Fawlty Towers....hilarious stuff.
