I was texting a friend during the debate, and I remarked when it concluded and went to break, "If the CNN analysts trash Biden, the convention swap is on". Chyron-Dems saying "we have a problem" after Biden's performance tonight.

One problem with their making this swap is that every single person they could swap Biden out for polls LOWER than he does head-to-head vs. Trump. So if they make the trade, they end up sliding backward and would face having to make up even more ground to make a steal for the new candidate look at least plausible.

Doubtful given the political inertia that’ll cause many Democrat voters to be uncomfortable with urgent change.

If one state, say NJ, cancels their election ... fails to hold it ... the NJ legislature appoints electors. If they fail to do so, NJ has 0 votes for the electoral college.
If nobody gets a majority on December 17th, the election goes to the U.S. House. NJ would cast it’s one vote for the Dem. Likely
