Norway Again Stockpiling Grain, Citing Pandemic, War, Climate Change

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — The Norwegian government on Tuesday signed a deal to start stockpiling grain, saying the COVID-19 pandemic, a war in Europe and climate change have made it necessary.

The deal to store 30,000 tons of grain in 2024 and 2025 was signed by agriculture and food minister Geir Pollestad, finance minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum and four private companies. The wheat, which will belong to the Norwegian government, will be stored in already existing facilities by the companies in facilities across the country. Three of the companies will store at least 15,000 tons this year.

Norway has 5.6 million people.

Last year, the Scandinavian nation said it would spend 63 million kroner ($6 million) per year on stocking up on grain.

Norway had stored grain in the 1950s but closed down its storage sites in 2003 after deciding they were no longer needed.

However, following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Norway set up a commission to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of its emergency preparedness systems which recommended stockpiling grain products.

The oil-rich country, which has supported Ukraine, also houses the Global Seed Vault in its Svalbard archipelago, some 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) from the North Pole.

So their government is at least pretending to do something in their own citizens’ best interest, while our government allows foreigners to invade and gain preferences, and ships our jobs and manufacturing base overseas.

That is 60 million lbs of grain for a population of about 5.7 million.

Roughly 10 lbs of grain per person, or about 10 days supply of food, if all the grain is used to feed people, and not animals.

They will be adding to that annually.

America used to have deep stocks but I think we discontinued them decades ago.

Every mention of “Climate Change” should have (Hoax) right behind it, because the most negative part comes from the Hoax part.

We used to have a 3 year grain reserve and then the insurance lobbyist changed it that a payment was better than having the actual grain.

When is Norway going to stop volcanoes from exploding and pumping billions of tons of vapor and ash into the upper atmosphere? I have read that over 110 billion tons of ash and vapor have been released into the upper atmosphere since Jan 15,2022 by 5 volcanic eruptions. The Huonga Tonga volcano alone pumped an estimated 58 billion tons of ash and vapors into the atmosphere some of it went above 126,000 feet. That is what is affecting our Wx. Worldwide now. Maybe Norway can manufacture corks to plug volcanoes.

Rather than worry about some conspiracy (which many of do actually exist), I think this is a good move ALL governments should do.

The story of the ant and the Grasshopper:

One summer, a grasshopper spent his days singing and playing while an ant worked hard to gather food for the winter. When winter arrived, the grasshopper found himself hungry and cold, with no food to eat. He went to the ant and begged for food. The ant, who had stored plenty of food, asked the grasshopper why he hadn’t prepared for winter. The grasshopper replied that he had been too busy singing and enjoying himself. The ant refused to help, reminding the grasshopper that those who do not work in times of plenty will suffer in times of need.

Let's ALL be prepared.

They are stockpiling grain at the same time they are shutting down farmers. Eventually the government will control the food supply.

I’d be happy to sell them all the wheat they want for $12.00 a bushel. The price at my local coop currently is $5.82 per bushel. Heck, I might actually be able to survive trying to farm out here.

However unrealistic their fears, there's no downside to stockpiling grain just in case.

There are realistic perils too, such as war.
