Yeah,
I think there was pressure for this. But that’s just a guess.
Military operations are ALWAYS influenced by political considerations. I cannot think of an exception.
One can claim that is bad or wrong, “let the generals fight the war.” However, what happens on the battlefield influences politics and it is usually the politician that starts the war anyhow with the general merely using a nations military might to force ones will on another.
If one assumes that Clausewitz was right https://quotefancy.com/quote/1135854/Carl-von-Clausewitz-War-is-politics-by-other-means, then the interplay between politics and warfare is natural since war is itself no more than continuation, a political instrument, which simply uses military force rather than a debate forum, economic pressure, treaties, etc. It’s the last and final solution albeit there too you have varying degrees of how this war is executed, i.e. use of nukes, bio or chem weapons, unconventional warfare (once referred to as guerilla warfare), terrorism, proxy conflicts where third parties are used, engaging in limited warfare vs. unrestricted / total war...
Knowing what decisions belong to the field commanders and which belong to the political leadership is an art few politicians or generals fully understand, IMHO.
Like Minsk, we are not party of this convention but what we do affects others and we are operating on the ground or in the waters of others that did sign to this.
This convention restricts / limits the number and types of vessels allowed into the Black Sea.
We want to put more warships and of greater tonnage into the Black Sea than what is allowed.
This convention is by design intended to prevent escalation, a massive naval build up in the Black Sea.
***Even though we did not sign to it, we are traveling through Turkish waters: https://turdef.com/article/west-wants-to-violate-the-montreux-convention (A Turkish Defense site)
As usual, we simply use some make belief and conveniently used moral cause to justify doing whatever we want, but the Turks aren’t buying it. In the Ukraine conflict, we tried hard to play the NATO angle, that Turkey as a fellow NATO member should let us do whatever we want.
The Turks routinely turn us around.
Got it, thanks for the information. 🙂👍
Kind of makes you wonder why the Freepathons are so slow these days, doesn’t it? I wonder if these guys pay in rubles?
*yawn*
Maybe I missed it. Where is your name on the Q-1 or Q-2 donor list???
Hundreds stopped donating when the Russians took over.
And donating is anonymous. Because of people like you. I bet you go through the offering plate at church too.
Not all fighting takes place on the front lines, Junior. Generals have performed brilliantly leading combat forces, winning battles and wars, while not themselves in direct combat. In fact, that would be foolhardy and counterproductive. Like those generals, Zelenskyy has been consistently under threat and in harms way - there is no dispute over that. Your hero Putin, however, hides in the Kremlin or his luxury villa while his soldiers die for his ambition.
You really know nothing about military operations.
How do you know this? Does JimRob let you see the entire list of donors?
Are you saying JimRob allowed his site to be taken over by Russians? Does he let you see the membership roster as well?
BTW, just because a FReeper doesn't support funding the Biden/Zelensky Laudromat doesn't mean they're Russians, it means they put America first. You sound like a neocon globalist.
Barrack Obama was scared to death of Putin, who played him, slayed him and ruined Obamas' Arab Spring.Putin protected Russia from the massive hordes of Muslim Refugees pointed at the underbelly of the Russian federation.
This whole war in Ukraine was caused by Obama/ Biden trying to exact revenge on Putin whom they tried to bluff one too many times.
I have to laugh at the demonization of Putin. Few people remember that he visited the Bush Ranch in Texas and got on well with GW. Pooty is a maniac, but not inhuman.
It is my belief that Obama is the primary cause for war between Ukraine and Russia.Obama pretty much runs the Biden presidency.
Post 66 by me...Removed
Zeepers are soooo sensitive.
Or better yet, follow basic good manners, stop thinking your abuse night after night is all in good fun, represents what the site or conservatism stand for, and stop blaming others for how the admins and mods run the site.
There are times when Jim Rob and admins do things I don't like and disagree. That's their decisions to make, and I don't blame others for it. Maybe you should try to do the same.
>>>>It was Jim Robinson or an admin moderator who removed the posts for crossing lines they set, not UMCRevMom, American in Tokyo, some “Zeeper” or me. You don’t like how they enforce the rules, take it up with them.<<<<
I realize you haven’t been around long, but you should know by now how this site works.
JimRob and the mods certainly don’t have the time to read every post on every thread, but the mods and sometimes JimRob do read the Abuse Reports.
And where do those reports come from? I’d bet money that the majority of them come from poor widdle, humorless zeepers whose super-sensitive feelings have been hurt.
Lighten up widgie, before you blow a gasket, and stop your finger wagging. It’s beyond boring...just like your UKE tagline.
Pusillanimous pismire says what?
When Widgie starts posting his bossy, supercilious nonsense, you know he’s got his pet Mod flying high cover for him.
>>>>There was an indignant lil’ Zeeper finger at work.
When Widgie starts posting his bossy, supercilious nonsense, you know he’s got his pet Mod flying high cover for him.<<<<
Yes, kiryandil pointed that out a few days ago.
Everybody’s got widgie’s number.
Yes, Obama and that giant chip on his shoulder, along with some of his evil henchharpies like ValJar and Susan Rice.
:=) О боже, это очень плохо, русские сукины дети!!

Ohhhh don’t get me going on the good old glory FR days, like when I lurked in 1997 and joined in 1998, with posts that went on into the hundreds, long, detailed, fact-based, little acrimony, reasoned behavior, good solid anti-communism/pro-America, and heavy hauls for our Fundraisers, with exciting “Freeps” out in public to boot!
I got news for you. Russian active measure interests signing up here and posting pro-Kremlin/North Korean bullshit would not in a million years admit to being Russian, or show forensic evidence of being based in Russia. They may be ignorant but they aren’t stupid. lol
