June 17 is National Root Beer Day and give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the refreshingly frosty soda known as root beer. Celebrating this beverage holiday is as easy as gathering some friends and some of root beer to enjoy together. What are you waiting for?
#NationalRootBeerDay
Commercial root beer production in the United States has been around since 1875. Producers traditionally use molasses and elements of sassafras as the main ingredients. Today, over 100 brands of root beer are produced with a range of flavors. Some add extra punches of vanilla while others lean on the caramel flavors. Some have a bitter bite while others are smooth from start to finish.
HOW TO OBSERVE ROOT BEER DAY
Pour yourself a frosty root beer. You can enjoy it as a float or on its own. Buy a drink for one of your favorite people, too. You can get gift cards to give to your sanitation workers for Global Garbage Man Day or another service worker. Root beer also adds flavor to savory dishes such as pulled pork, meatballs, and pork n' beans.

NATIONAL ROOT BEER DAY HISTORY
National Day Calendar is researching the source of this sassafrass-based holiday.
Love root beer! Some companies do it as a stand alone specialty.
Oh, boy, was the rare trip to the A&W drive-in ever a treat as a kid. I could barely lift that big cold mug.
Still keep one in the freezer.
There were a lot of good root beers back in the day. Then many of them got ruined (IMO) by the use of HFCS. Then came the craft beers, ales, and sodas, and many good root beers appeared. What I’ve noticed recently is a lot of the craft root beers in bottles seem to have an annoying aftertaste that wasn’t there previously.
