Joey Chestnut, the reigning and 16-time champion of the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, will not compete in this year’s event on July 4, Major League Eating announced.
Chestnut, who has been competing in the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog event since 2005, has been banned from this year’s contest after he agreed to a sponsorship deal with Impossible Foods, a rival brand of Nathan’s. This year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest will again be held at Coney Island in New York City.

“Time for someone else to be the face if this contest”
Maybe so, but it’ll be a cold day before his record is ever broken.
On the one hand I get it, he’s now sponsored by a competitor and logos and all that. On the other hand him and Kobayashi are the only competitive eaters anybody knows, and their duals have really increased the popularity of the event and maybe they should have sponsored him themselves.
Celebrity endorsements have never influenced me to buy a product. They are just paid shills.........
Sounds reasonable to ban him in this instance, but I was unaware the contest isn’t open to the public.
As far as hot dogs go, Nathan’s is okay.
I prefer Hebrew National Reduced Fat Beef Franks. They’re delicious with only 8g of fat each.
Me either....I’m fond of Joey Chestnut but his picture on a pack of fake hotdogs that who know what there is in ‘em is not going to get me to try ‘em.
As a matter of fact, studies have shown the the fake meat products are not any healthier than real meat and many times not AS healthy.
MLB banning Babe Ruth in his prime does not even rise to the stature of this decision.
I get it. I also get that cutting my nose off to spite my face is idiotic.
Filthy sport that’s literally a sin, and he’s eating lab grown meat from cell lines that radically expand. IE… a tumor. Fake meat is sickening to anyone sane.
Hebrew national…. The best.
