What did all you dads do today (or have planned)?
Last week our oldest daughter and boyfriend took me to a wonderful South American restaurant called "Oyo" in Pleasanton, CA. It's a fusion of northeast South America (Guyana), Caribbean, and West African. Outstanding. We then took the Niles Canyon Scenic Railway ride which is really gorgeous.
Today I got a nice phone call from our middle daughter in Spokane and we chatted a long while catching up. She and her husband are headed to the Oregon Coast for a week (and will meet up with oldest daughter and boyfriend).
This morning our son took me out to breakfast at our long-time favorite coffee shop in town, the "Village Pantry" and we sat outside on their delightful hidden patio / courtyard in the rear under perfect late-spring weather. Sunny, blue skies and 72ish.
I went on a long hike in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Russian Ridge yesterday afternoon and had some nice chats with a couple of rangers and another hiker. A couple days ago I hiked up Windy Hill in Portola Valley. Started off in raging winds with thick fog pouring down the hill, but it cleared up, the fog burned off, and ended with perfectly blue skies. Total about ten miles and 1,700 feet elevation gain.
My wife is in Idaho now and I'll be headed up there in two weeks for the summer.
A very good eight days!
Happy Fathers Day! I’m working. but due to the nature of my job, and because it’s Sunday, the Mrs and kids are gonna drop by and bring me some supper later on!
Nice! Hope they share it with you when they drop by.
I retired six years ago and those working days are a distant memory. Now if we can only survive Brandonflation.
Renewing my practical nursing license. Excitement!
LOL...try to contain that excitement!
Not much. Just look at all the screwed up women there are out there.
Out youngest son just graduated from boot camp in n Georgia. We drove down from WI to spend the weekend with him, we’re dropping him back off right now.
Cooked my wife breakfast and mowed the lawn. No rest for the wicked.
“We drove down from WI to spend the weekend with him”
How nice of you! Hopefully you got some sightseeing in to and from Georgia.
I took mine for a ride in the bizjet I fly - went to Spokane from Seattle then down to Portland and home. There were others onboard at the same time.
I’ve been tearing up a portion of my front yard working on an irrigation problem. The solution has been found and corrections will commence shortly. I had to rent a trencher on two separate occasions!
I’m sure my neighbors will be glad to see me reassembling my landscaping.
Went to church just like any Sunday.
Our son popped by to do laundry and wished me a happy commercial holiday.
One daughter said she was venmoing money so we could go out for dinner.
The kids don’t call, they don’t write - what’s a dad to do?
Forgive them, I suppose, but it still bothers a little.
Got hugs from my kids (15-22), now watching Return of the Jedi on FX (Darth Vader is a Dad, right?)
Read the card my daughters gave me.
Went to church.
Called my dad.
Called my brother, since it is also his birthday.
Catching up on work (stupid Comcast).
Will have dinner later with the in-laws.
My daughter is on her way to take me to Culvers.
but I did get up and made from scratch pancakes of the husband, plus german sausage and eggs sunny side up...
later we will go to Texas Roadhouse....
in the between hrs, husband is covering different areas on our property with the tons of free wood chips we got dumped here...I told him to go shooting or golf or something but he wanted to finish his work.
Got a new golf bag and going to Top Golf this evening.
Spent the morning worshiping our Lord and Savior at Sunday School and morning service. I’m Cooking BBQ pork ribs, corn of the cob and beans. It’s a Great Day.
