Odd - it used to be during Reftra (refresher training assessment) on a ship one of the things they would do is eliminate all the electronics and force the crew to go back to basic manual things such as line of sight/celestial navigation, semaphore/flashing light comms, manual/gas powered pumps, hand loading munitions, etc...I’m guessing since training has supposedly gotten so bad that they’ve since abandoned a lot of the basic backups.

REPORT: Julian Assange spent $500k for his flight out of the UK to avoid landing on the American homeland after he was released from prison.

Assange will instead be landing on a remote U.S. island where he will plead guilty to the charges.

The island is the U.S. territory of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands, about 1,800 miles from Australia.

“He has to front up to charges that have been brought under U.S. law," said a professor at the University of Sydney's law school.

Assange will have the U.S. federal court hearing on Wednesday morning on the remote island.

His wife suggested the $500k flight was paid for in debt so they will likely launch a fundraising campaign to pay it off.

Assange is headed for Australia where he will reunite with his family.

I'm not sure how it works, but I've heard it's a pain in the bunz. And only a small percentage of adverse reactions will be reported there.

Though self steering systems are shut off when you want to steer it yourself. If it's hacked you can't shut it off. There was no actual over ride of the computer same with your car.
If the car computer goes down your car stops functioning. Likely how they saved many crashes. Simply shutting off the ships systems and drift. How they did this with a plane I don't know.
