Originally, Ford had said in 2021 that it would start production in 2025.
Full production at a Ford EV factory in west Tennessee that was to deliver the company’s F150 Lightning electric pickup truck is being delayed.
State Sen. Page Walley, a Republican, told the "Tennessee Outlook" full production of the vehicle line was being pushed back by nine months as a result of a “read on the economy.”
Ford said in 2021 that it would start production in 2025. Now the electric pickup trucks aren’t expected to be delivered to dealerships until 2026, according to the "Outlook."
Ford lost $132,000 on each electric vehicle it sold in the first quarter of this year, and according to reports, the company cut orders from its battery suppliers as production plans are scaled back.
They are not selling
Memo from American people: Come back when we feel like buying EVs. Pack a lunch.
I believe the F150 is the number 1 selling PU, so I guess it makes sense to focus on something else rather than your bread and butter and Golden Goose.
“Ford lost $132,000 on each electric vehicle it sold in the first quarter of this year”
So just raise the price $132,000 on each electric vehicle instead of raising the price on ICE vehicles.
China figured that out....
They better pack more than a lunch if they’re waitin’ on me
Me, too.
Maybe those survival packages with “eat a delicious meal tonight or in 25 years.”
“it makes sense to focus on something else rather than your bread and butter and Golden Goose”
GM ain’t no smarter.....they plan to discontinue production of the Camaro very soon......just ignore the fact that they’re everywhere you go. SMH
They’re waiting for Joe’s reelection.
I always preferred the Camaro to the Mustang, but that's just me.
That’s a no brainer
I’ll forgo ICE/hybrid vehicles in the future once Mr. Fusion makes its way into the market. Great Scott! :)
gas ones yes.
Electric ones? not so much.
I remember a new CEO of a car company, about 10-15 years ago. After a few months on the job, he announced “I thought I was going to run a car company, but it is more like a health care and retirement company.” I would never deny anyone their pension, but when you have thousands and thousands of people receiving monthly checks / benefits, and not producing one car, the system will eventually fail. Combine that with today’s EV madness, and is it any wonder car companies are “scaling back.”
In China there are huge fields of brand new EVs. Reminds me of the Soviet Union farm tractor factories. Every day the workers would ‘fulfill’ their government mandated quotas. Outside the factory, hundreds of brand new tractors sat rusting away. Command and control economies only control the people.
Drill, baby, drill.
Our Ford dealer has four of them..................for months on end.....................
We’re not buying. Maybe Ford should do what the customer wants, not what the government dictates.
Delaying sounds much better than cancelling. Cancelling would have brought the attention of big government liberals and the environment wackos, and accusations of destroying the environment would have caused major headaches to the car-maker.
delay, delay, delay. Until cooler or saner heads prevail.
