Alex Jones on Thursday moved to liquidate his personal assets, agreeing to demands from the families of Sandy Hook victims whom he owes more than $1.5 billion in damages over his lies about the 2012 school massacre.
...Prior to Thursday, Jones had resisted converting his personal bankruptcy into a Chapter 7 liquidation. But facing mounting legal pressure, he reversed course and caved to the demands of the Sandy Hook families, who have still not seen a penny from Jones since juries in Connecticut and Texas found him liable in 2022 for defamation and emotional distress. His lawyers said in a filing that there was “no reasonable prospect for a successful reorganization” and that continuing down the path would only result in additional expenses incurred by Jones.
The legal maneuver ultimately “means [Jones’] ownership in Free Speech Systems is going to get sold,” Avi Moshenberg, an attorney who represents some of the Sandy Hook families, told CNN on Thursday night, referencing the parent company of Infowars.
“Converting the case to Chapter 7 will hasten the end of these bankruptcies and facilitate the liquidation of Jones’s assets, which is the same reason we have moved to convert his company’s case to Chapter 7,” Chris Mattei, another attorney representing Sandy Hook families, told CNN.
Jones technically has not controlled the Infowars business for some time, given that Free Speech Systems has also filed for bankruptcy protection. The company’s business has, thus, been under the supervision of a court appointed restructuring officer.
...The liquidation of Jones’ assets does not mean that Infowars will cease to exist. Several outcomes are possible. The court-appointed trustee could sell the business to another owner, for instance.
A representative for Jones did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday night.

I said had he kept it open, they couldn’t have sued. However, he crossed the line sufficiently where he left himself open. They were able to demonstrate harm and judgement was rendered.
I’ll be waiting by the phone.
Find that video honey? And you said it was a fact and that he said the parents were parties to the slaughter of their children to help push gun control.
Well? Got that vid?
I suppose the scumbag vermin got $400 million at least off the top, leaving $50 million each for the families’ “material harm”
As I suggested to Jonty, maybe you should try getting some facts from someone who is far more knowledgeable about that farce than anyone here, Robert Barnes. Search on You Tube, viva Barnes, viva frei. You may be surprised at what you learn, and it’s not flattering to those involved in that lawfare.
If ALex Jones paid in full, that might be how it is. But they won’t be getting more than 10% of the judgement.
I don’t question what happened at Sandy Hook. I think it could very well have been a false flag. I just won’t say the parents were involved, because I don’t need to say that.
so that makes the judgement ok?
are you good with the insane NY judgments against PDJT ?
I am not ok with the judgements on Trump, that were unquestionably designed to leave him nothing.
However, plaintiffs have to demonstrate to be awarded a specific judgement if they win their lawsuit. The person being sued doesn’t get a bulk rate settlement just because he’s being sued by more people.
In post 65 you are making the argument that this extreme insane excess judgement is justified because of extraneous bullScheiff ‘how much will they get for their grief?’
Constitution? We have a Constitution?
Who knew?
And how much did plaintiffs demonstrate ?
$50 million or $5 million each ?
I said in 65 that it wasn’t justified for Trump, because it is well excess of his accusations and demonstratable harm.
You don’t get a bulk rate when multiple individuals sue you. If they can demonstrate that the damage you do to them is worth $1.5 million, that’s what each gets. The judge doesn’t cut the judgement just because there are more people involved. If ten people are involved, he’s going to issue a judgement for each person. He’s not going to say that when ten people are involved, only 8 are going to get their judgement and 2 will not.
How many were suing?
Their appointment as Trustee gives them that power, my wife was Bankruptcy Trustee for over 30 years, she routinely shut down businesses without getting another order from the Judge.
What most people don’t understand is that when you file bankruptcy and it goes to a chapter 7 as in this case, Alex Jones no longer controls the assets, the Trustee has all the legal rights to shut him down, seize the assets and liquidate them.
What happened to Alex Jones, he originally filed a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, which requires agreement with the creditors on a plan to repay the debts, when that process broke down, the creditors forced a liquidation, and the Trustee then has full control over everything.
The part about the Trustee telling Alex Jones he could keep certain things is not about trapping Alex Jones, its standard procedure, every State has Federal Bankruptcy exemptions, for example Florida exempts a person’s home and a certain amount of capital above that to help them restart.
Here is a list of Florida’s exemptions.
And here are the exemptions in Texas.

What the Trustee told Alex Jones to keep was probably exemptions allowed in Texas and not some attempt to trap him.
Alex Jones in the bankruptcy case wanted to make himself a martyr and made misleading or false statements about the bankruptcy so when he comes back and starts his show again, he can cry how mistreated he was.
I don’t know, but you are saying a $1.5 billion dollar judgement against a politically disfavored Individual is just, oh, so, kinda, ok
you used to be oh, so, kinda, lucid
Each family that can demonstrate harm gets a judgement and their judgement is their own. If 100 families sue you, they are each going to get a judgement and a judge is not going to say that because 100 families are suing you, we need to reduce the amount each person is entitled to, because there are so many families.
He might lose a studio, some hardware, but the core of what he does could be back up and running with a few smartphones, GoPros, and laptops.
