Alex Jones agrees to liquidate his assets to pay Sandy Hook families, in move that would end his ownership of Infowars
Cnn ^ | 6th June 2024 | Oliver Darcy

Alex Jones on Thursday moved to liquidate his personal assets, agreeing to demands from the families of Sandy Hook victims whom he owes more than $1.5 billion in damages over his lies about the 2012 school massacre.

...Prior to Thursday, Jones had resisted converting his personal bankruptcy into a Chapter 7 liquidation. But facing mounting legal pressure, he reversed course and caved to the demands of the Sandy Hook families, who have still not seen a penny from Jones since juries in Connecticut and Texas found him liable in 2022 for defamation and emotional distress. His lawyers said in a filing that there was “no reasonable prospect for a successful reorganization” and that continuing down the path would only result in additional expenses incurred by Jones.

The legal maneuver ultimately “means [Jones’] ownership in Free Speech Systems is going to get sold,” Avi Moshenberg, an attorney who represents some of the Sandy Hook families, told CNN on Thursday night, referencing the parent company of Infowars.

“Converting the case to Chapter 7 will hasten the end of these bankruptcies and facilitate the liquidation of Jones’s assets, which is the same reason we have moved to convert his company’s case to Chapter 7,” Chris Mattei, another attorney representing Sandy Hook families, told CNN.

Jones technically has not controlled the Infowars business for some time, given that Free Speech Systems has also filed for bankruptcy protection. The company’s business has, thus, been under the supervision of a court appointed restructuring officer.

...The liquidation of Jones’ assets does not mean that Infowars will cease to exist. Several outcomes are possible. The court-appointed trustee could sell the business to another owner, for instance.

A representative for Jones did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday night.

“I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” was a paraphrase of Voltaire.
It’s dead in the USA now. Leftists killed it.
These types - they hate America. Not just want to change it: they actively hate America - hate the idea of America and hate freedom.
They believe in punishing dissenting opinions and by punishing I mean destroying everything one had built.
Free speech is dead because now people are too scared to exercise it. We no longer have a republic. Recognize that fact. The left accomplished it, and they won’t escape history for doing so.

Look at the grief on his laughing face as he discusses the alleged death of his son.

It’s not hard at all, he could be back up and running in a couple of weeks, people file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy every day in the USA, their assets get liquidated and they move on.

A few days ago, here on FR, I suggested the best course of action right now for Alex Jones was to work with the Bankruptcy Trustee get his assets liquidated as fast as possible, get the cases resolved and move on, he’s still Alex Jones and he can back up and running fairly quickly, of course I was ripped by those who don’t understand how bankruptcy works.

“He spent ten years talking about it and his conspiracies about it and there wasn’t anything the parents could do to stop him, because he stayed within the limits of the law.
It was only when he formally accused them of willingly to slaughter their children for the purposes of getting gun control did he leave himself open to a lawsuit.”

You are simply flat out lying. The shooting was in 2012, and within weeks it was no longer a topic, except he said that after exploring his doubts, he believed it was real and not a false flag.

And never, not even once, did he even HINT that parents had their kids killed. NOT ONCE. His only stated doubt was whether or not anyone was killed and whether or not the people on TV were crisis actors.

You cannot provide a single film clip proving what you claim. If a clip of him saying those things existed it would be plastered everywhere and constantly on the news when the story came up.

You are regurgitating dishonest claims and the narrative of the progressive lawfare crowd. This is about the same as claiming Trump said illegal aliens are all rapists, he banned moslems coming to America, and he had an affair with Stormy Daniels.

SOunds like you’d believe anything.

I’m not lying. I am explaining what I understand. I can be wrong, but lying implies intent to deceive.

I’m not being dishonest, but some here believe that free speech extends to the ability to create material harm.

“I just can’t say that the parents willingly cooperated with those who were involved in a false flag operation to slaughter their children.”

You must have that video, right? Never happened. If it did that vid would be on a continuous loop on CNN and MSNBC.
Why isn’t it? Why can’t you find it? LOL

“That is what I understand....As far as I know, he crossed the line legally.”

Ohhhh, now wait just a minute. You said it was a fact. Not “as I understand”, not “it seems” etc.
You said Alex Jones accused the parents of being part of a plot to slaughter their children to advance gun control.

LOL... he should come after you for slander.

You are justifying a 1.5 billion judgement for ‘slander’

This is why XIX has killed the UnitedStates

Here’s why I have an issue with Alex Jones, in this case he caused his own harm, The judgement was excessive, what he said about Sandy Hook was repulsive and is not protected by the 1A.

About a week ago Alex Jones went on a tirade about the government illegally attempting to shut him down and seize his assets, which is extremely misleading and bordering on outright lies.

When you file bankruptcy, you basically give up control of your assets, in this case Alex Jones filed bankruptcy on his business and his personal assets, in which case he no longer controls either.

The Bankruptcy Trustee can legally shut you down, change the locks on your business and keep you from operating, his job is to liquidate the assets for the benefit of the creditors.

Even if it’s a chapter 11 bankruptcy, the creditors have to agree with the debtor on a plan to repay the debts, if no plan can be agreed upon, the creditors can force a liquidation of the assets.

What I object to about Alex Jones is he lumped himself into the plight of Donald Trump, the 1/6 protestors and others like Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon, all of whom have suffered from the lawfare of the government, Alex Jones tried to make himself into a martyr and it takes away from real cases of lawfare.

I don’t know if Infowars owns the rights to him, but how hard would it be for him start operating under some other moniker? It didn’t take Tucker Carlson very long to get up and running.

The parents did exactly that and proved they were harmed and judgement was rendered.

Frankly I'm not sorry for him. He made being a conservative more difficult than it already was/is, with his unprovable conspiracy rants.

Give me Karl Denninger any day, for a good factual rant.

Wait a minute... you said it was a fact. You told us what he “said”.

Now you have no proof, and you are worming out of that hard position.

Wait, your nonsense argument feels rather familiar. Are you female by chance?

He has no grounds to come after me, because I left it open. That’s how you protect yourself from being sued.

That’s why I said, he crossed the line legally. Subjectively, he may not have but that’s on the individual.

As I said, as I understood it, what he said about Sandy Hook left people with the idea that the parents were involved and they were able to demonstrate harm from that.

How much is $1.5 billion, when you break it down to every parent that was suing?

I don’t have a problem with looking for conspiracies, where the government is engineering permanent control. We all know that is what they are doing. Agents within the government are not above using information to target conservatives in swing states and surreptitiously kill just enough to turn a state purple or blue.

I know the depths that evil will sink to. You just can’t make it seem like the parents were involved in some way.

“The Bankruptcy Trustee can legally shut you down, change the locks on your business and keep you from operating,”

In this case not without a court order. Not to mention the Trustee was recorded by Jones. The trustee called him in a drunken stupor and said some shady dishonest things. He was also caught on tape telling Jones there was a sum of money in the company that Jones himself could keep and didn’t need to declare. Trying to set him up as hiding assets.

You assert “what he said about Sandy Hook was repulsive and is not protected by the 1A.”

Well, as I asked others, what exactly did he say besides thinking the laughing dad and other anomalies were very strange? And a reminder, most of the discussion was from a guest he was interviewing”.

So what was the disgusting thing he said?

No, you didn’t leave it open. Here are your exact words.

“He slandered the parents by claiming that they were in on the plan to slaughter their children. He didn’t ask if they were or leave a shred of doubt by stating that they might have had a hand in it. He said outright that they were involved.”

He could sue you if he has time. Because you cannot present any proof of your fantastic claim.

Judge Bellis held Jones in in contempt for failing to appear in court. He claimed he was sick, while healthy enough to hold live broadcasts from his studio. Jones repeatedly failed to respond and follow court procedures. He wasn't claiming he could not produce documentation that didn't exist.

Try getting your information about the case from someone other than Jones, and you might learn something.
