US seizes Scott Ritter’s passport

The US State Department has seized the passport of former Marine and UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter, he told RT on Monday.

Ritter was on his way to Russia for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) when he was pulled off the plane and had his documents confiscated.

“I was boarding the flight. Three [police] officers pulled me aside. They took my passport. When asked why, they said ‘orders of the State Department’. They had no further information for me,” Ritter told RT. “They pulled my bags off the plane, then escorted me out of the airport. They kept my passport.”

“Was this done in accordance with the First Amendment, or the Fourth,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, commenting on the news. The first amendment to the US constitution protects freedom of speech, press and assembly, while the fourth bars the government from “unreasonable searches and seizures.”

"William Scott Ritter Jr. (born July 15, 1961) is an American author, former United States Marine Corps intelligence officer, former United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) weapons inspector and convicted sex offender." Correct or not?

“ Foreign travel is a privilege.”

So is sex. (You only have a right to masturbate)

Donald Trump is a “convicted felon.”

Correct, or not?

Some people will make any excuse to accept tyranny I guess.

While free people do not accept tyranny so easily.

We are not prisoners in our country. Our government can only prohibit travel to countries that we are in a declared war with.

That's what countries like the USSR & East Germany do, lock their citizens within a wall that is heavily armed and guarded.

Sure you want to stick with your statement?

From Wikipedia (because you know the narrative is there):

"In July 2022, the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation included Ritter on a list of what it called Russian propagandists."

Be interesting if the Biden regime is now detaining US citizens on behalf of their interests in Ukraine....

"Ukraine is the model for America's new political system."

Under Zelensky's martial law, all men of the ages 18-60 are banned from being able to leave the country. Zelensky falls into that age range, yet he's been flying around the world on his begging tour for the past few years. It's good to be the king.

Haig v. Agee is not a good precedent, as Agee was a (disgruntled) employee of the CIA, and quite a high-level one at that, who apparantly had been leaking through other anti-CIA people/organizations. I haven't read the decision, but there was an immediate national security reason for revoking his passport.

One would assume this is a simple 4th and 5th Amendment argument, but in your defense, the "right" to travel abroad is not enumerated in the Constitution.

Since 9/11, Congress has passed many laws, such as the Patriot Act, giving broad powers to the US security state, and DHS has implemented many other regulations, such as "Real ID" and "No Fly Lists." Another is a DHS rule that went into effect in February 2008, under which all travelers now require the express prior permission of the U.S. Government to board any aircraft or maritime vessel that will enter or leave the United States. That "permission" is represented by your passport.

The Supreme Court has never ruled against such DHS actions, and Congress has only given more power to DHS to create them in the name of "national security."

So we are in a "no-mans-land" on this issue.

Do not doubt the (neo) marxist DC cabal will use this power ever-more in the future unless actively denied the power.

Yep. And you could sail the open sea. But if you want to stop in a port, the country you are seeking to enter can decline to let you in.

“in which there was a likelihood of ‘serious damage’ to foreign policy””

Considering that the Official US Foreign Policy seems to be getting into a Nuclear War with Russia, I do think that the US government could make the case that Ritter is (or could be) doing ‘serious damage’ to that objective.

Hate to say it, but if Ritter’s objective is peace in Ukraine, then it’s easy to see how the primary objective of US Foreign Policy, starting World War 3 against Russia, is endangered by Ritter leaving the US.

“When Trump was ‘convicted’ of those 34 fake felonies, that was the red line crossed for me.”

For me, it started with Elian Gonzalez. Then the J6 POWs, then the 34 convictions last week.

“I’m just hoping we stay out of the gulag.”

Over 1000 of us are in DC Central for questioning the integrity of the 2020 election, so yes, that is a legitimate fear.

If Biden 'wins', it will be Obama's 4th term.

I can drive to the Mexican border or Canadian border at any time without asking anyone in the US gov’t for permission

For now.

Are there still direct flights from the U.S. to Russia, given the effective low level conflict between the two nations? it may also be that the Dubai authorities tipped off their American counterparts of Ritter’s itinerary.

Yes, a pedo, and don’t forget his wife, who he met while doing arms inspections in the USSR. I wonder if she travels much?
Didn’t he receive funds for a documentary indirectly from Saddm Hussein through some Muslim who was getting oil vouchers.
Which reminds me, a few Russians got caught up in that Iraq oil for food scandal too, along with Kofi’s kid.

Has less to do with traveling abroad than where he is traveling to.
