A town of 900 so what's that? Mayberry? Two officers? Andy and Barney? They had to have known everyone in that freaking town? They did not know that dog and his owner? They did not know the dog was not a threat? In a town that freaking small you would think Andy and Barney knew every cat and dog in the area. Am I correct? What is going on here?
The important thing is that Officer Woodson made it home safely.
Seems like it to me.
However, no police dept these days could not end well.
what’s going on is the difference between Andy and Barney. any had the cool head, didn’t leap before he thought and knew and respected every little quirk of everybody in town while hothead Barney was scared of his own shadow and thought everyone was a potential criminal just looking for an opportunity to do evil. why do you think Barney only had ONE bullet and it was kept in his pocket? IF ONLY this putz of a policeman had to keep only ONE bullet in his shirt pocket...
Looks like Mr. Woodson was formerly a Missouri corrections officer who has had legal issues before.

Unlike Andy and Barney, this guy looks like he uses intimidation and force at the least perceived provocation.
There is no indication in the article of the dog being dangerous or even a nuisance. And nothing about the police being called by a citizen.
Idk....maybe the dog was on record has having bitten someone...?
who says it was a "senseless" killing?
who determines whats senseless and whats not? The george floyd crowd?
Some of y'all are wound tighter than the new guy on a butt pirate ship, over a situation 1000's of miles away from you and it has nothing to do with you.
You can find stupid and bad cops, teachers, priests, coaches, politicians, rabbis, administrators, businessmen, everywhere
The key thing - limit their power, give citizens control over them, and allow access to justice.
Fire the cop and tell him to leave town. Now.
Note to self:
“Shoot the shih-tzu — take her out of the equation,” is not always good advice.
Nothing gets FR more wound up than some doggie abuse story.
What a shame and a disgrace.
A Shih Tzu could clamp on, not let go, and you’d hardly realize he was there.
Threads like these bring out the absolute idiocy and ignorance of members of this site..........
Liz you are good at this can you find/post the mayor’s office phone number and post it to get this officer fired?

But that's just me
That black thug was just protecting the public by slaughtering the deaf little fluffy dog
The officer in question was contracted to Sturgeon by the town eight miles down the road and he covered there when he wasn’t working here (and I say “here” because he’s actually a full-time officer in the town I live in and as a matter of fact, he drove down my street about an hour ago). Sturgeon can’t technically “fire” him, but I’m sure they can get out of the contract with him somehow. I’d be stunned if he ever worked there again.
