A Kentucky family’s $15,000 Carnival Cruise vacation they had been planning for a year was canceled just two days before the ship was set to sail after they accidentally shared their booking number online in a case of identity theft.
Tiffany Banks was devastated to learn that her trip aboard the Carnival Celebration ship with her husband and their four kids was canceled without her knowledge the day before the family was going to fly to Florida to leave on the boat.
Banks said in a series of TikTok videos that she had no idea their vacation, for which they had already paid in full, was trashed until she got an email about off-ship excursion cancellations and called to investigate.
A Carnival customer service representative told her that she had canceled her $12,000 reservation for the ship’s largest room — the Excel Presidential Suite — through the online system.
The mom and nurse practitioner said she went into “a full-blown panic” and she and her four kids were all in tears.
“We have nearly $15,000 tied up in for this vacation including excursions. The room itself was I think $12,000 or $13,000, and then we’ve got a few grand tied up in excursions, and actually with almost $2,000 for flights,” she said in a May 12 TikTok video.
Banks said she never canceled the trip and wondered if it was a system glitch.
Carnival said the room they had booked was now reserved by another customer and offered the family two interior rooms — the cheapest on the ship — instead, but the mom did not feel it was an adequate replacement.
Carnival also refused to offer a full refund as its cancellation policy states that no money will be returned within 15 days of the cruise date.

lol...60 looks pretty good, too
Only a couple times...a bit too cheap for me.
FWIW: I was shocked too when I found out they can sue the store for damage done by the carts. So we just pay them without going to court. The sign does do the job though as most people don’t realize the sign is just bullcrap trying to keep them from complaining to us.
And we will even tell them the sign says not responsible, but if they say that’s BS signs don’t mean anything under the law in this case...we ask them for a receipt for the repairs. If “reasonable” we pay it.
I’m sure some cards would. I’m sure cruise lines get a waiver from the not selling twice thing. Remember they are not American companies which is why cruise lines didn’t get Covid money.
If you are in America the commerce laws of where you bought it still apply.
” Our chase sapphire insures the cost of the cruise up to $10K per person”
Which one do you have?
“FWIW: I was shocked too when I found out they can sue the store for damage done by the carts. “
Where did you find that? Law office sites say otherwise.

Carnival: “America’s Cruise Line” headquartered in the USA
My grocery store that I was a manager in. This was in NC and SC...both states the store can be made to pay.
” This was in NC and SC...both states the store can be made to pay.”
I cannot cite NC, SC specifics but I really doubt that they are different from the rest of the USA.
“I was a grocery store manager in High School It’s 100% correct.”
Manager? Of the parking lot?

Reserve.
“Reserve.”
I noticed your fee after I posted.
Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance
If your trip is canceled or cut short by sickness, severe weather and other covered situations, you can be reimbursed up to $10,000 per person and $20,000 per trip for your pre-paid, non-refundable travel expenses, including passenger fares, tours and hotels.
Never share your vacation plans and pictures until AFTER you return from the trip. I can’t believe people still brag on FB, Tik-Tok, and X regarding their traveling itinerary. It opens your home up to squatters, and your credit cards up to fraud. Not to mention some people, just for the fun of it, will take that information and cancel all your lodging or flight confirmations.
In addition, unless you want your family’s children’s faces on porn sites or targets of pedophiles, do NOT post your children or grandchildren’s pictures on social media sites.

While the Reserve card has a very high fee, the same insurance from Travel Guard, etc., would cost me more. There are also many other benefits such as reimbursing the first $300 in travel costs every year. Global Entry paid for. Etc. I don’t need medical insurance. I’ll keep the card as long as we keep travelling.
As I said before, they really went to bat for me over a charge from a company in China.
Cool. Will check it out.
I know. It’s crazy!
It’s a good thing. Honestly, in 2021 I believed cruising never would return.
It’s back, but there have been changes not for the better. Not bad enough to keep me away, though.
No Manager of a dept. Then later Manager of the store while in college. It was about the size of a standard Kroger, it was called Bi-Lo.
So then the rest of the US the store can be held liable.
Huh?
