Russia’s finance ministry on Tuesday proposed introducing extra progressive income tax rates for those earning more than 2.4 million roubles ($27,100) annually, as well as raising the mineral extraction tax for fertiliser and iron ore producers.
-snip-
The proposed tax amendments also include an increase in taxes for fertiliser and iron ore producers. The mineral extraction tax for iron ore producers would increase by 1.15 times, for potash producers by 2.3 times and it would double for phosphorus fertiliser producers.

In the 50s & part of the 70s in the US that was solidly middle class in America. But what are the current tax rates? in Russia currently?
Given that Russia is apparently in the Top 10 countries based on Purchasing Power Parity per capita?
I would say so, relatively speaking.
Not as good as America, but comparatively better off economically than every other European country (except Germany).
“The flat tax rate of 13% was introduced in Russia in 2001 at the beginning of Putin’s first term. From 2021, a rate of 15% was introduced for Russians with income exceeding 5 million roubles.”
The “new” tax would affect top 3.6% to a flat 18%.
Sounds pretty damn good to me paying about 65% of my yearly income to fed, state, local, gas, sales, etc.
In Putin’s Russia, $27,100 is rich and they must be soaked!
“Russia proposes higher income taxes for the well-off”
Don’t like it, then don’t keep telling us how GREAT Russia is. Find something else to do with your time.
Relative currency value apparently is a concept unkown to Freepers. A $27,000 income is mocked, but eggs are $1/doz and you can rent an high end 3-bd apt in the center of Moscow for about $1,200/mo.
Exactly !
And housing [3bd apt in center of Moscow $1,200/mo]
And gas [$2/gal]
And cars [$33k ave. price for 4-door sedan]
And healthcare [no additional charge, state run]
But yeah, those “poor” russkies having to get by on $27k/year.
Russia will tax itself into prosperity.
Works everywhere its tried. Look how well we’re doing.
There’s no point in providing these (completely correct) details to a bad-faith poster of agitprop.
Thanks for the information.🙂👍 I won't even bother to confirm it, because I am not in the least triggered by the information in any of the 3 posts on this topic by this poster, nor do I take it as a sign of desperation on Russia's part even.
Only 17 more threads to post on this subject, you can do it!
