Why do our FBI agents so regularly abuse their power?

Is the agency purposely selecting people who sign up precisely because they want to act outside the law?

The American people are learning by dribs and drabs that the raid on Mar-a-Lago was not only unconstitutional, it was a set-up, an attempt to frame former President Trump for having documents illegally stored there. The set-up proves the lie. Both the National Archives and the FBI knew said documents, which Trump was legally allowed to have, were carefully stored in a locked storage room. Many of those boxes were packed and sent there by the National Archives; they likely knew what was in those boxes better than Trump did. In short, it was a Gestapo-like ploy to both incriminate and humiliate Donald Trump. As the truth of the raid leaks out (such as the authorization of lethal force) thanks to Judge Cannon who has ordered Jack Smith’s redactions unredacted, it is becoming clearer and clearer that it is the FBI and the National Archives working with the Biden administration that plotted to create a situation by which they could indict Trump. Jack Smith, a known legal thug who has no respect for the actual law, was then appointed, illegally and unconfirmed by the Senate, to prosecute Trump and convict by any means necessary. That case seems to be falling apart. It was a farce from the outset and Judge Cannon is allowing the American people to see just how much of a farce by releasing unredacted Smith documents.

The raid on Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 is hardly the only example of FBI skullduggery. They raided hundreds of persons who were in attendance at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 in much the same way — fifteen to twenty agents, armed with all manner of weapons.

For the same reasons you impose and maintain rules and limits of war in top tier militaries, rules and limits in policing, anywhere that groups of humans have great power you have to impose and maintain a culture of self-discipline and self-control of limits, and keep their focus on the organization’s mission and purpose, or else their personal egos, vanities, greed, prejudices, and personal flaws start becoming expressed in their work and then it becomes the work.

Oh, c’mon, they are the law when they are directed from higher levels to do something. It’s part of the misrepresentation of chain lf command. It is otherwise called government.

Easy answer: it’s because there are no consequences. Law enforcement has a free pass to do anything from lying to armed robbery to murder and can’t even be sued let alone charged criminally due to “qualified immunity”. George Floyd aside where the cop was sacrificed for political purposes and wasn’t even guilty of doing anything but his job it is extremely difficult and the vast majority of the time impossible to bring a cop/fbi,/etc to justice no matter what they’ve done.

FBI’s culture is that of the State Police. They are a menace to democracy and freedom and in general a bunch of useless pukes.

Trace it back to their origin. Its always been this way.

And, if an agent is too dishonest to be safely employed by the FBI he is a good candidate for the CIA.

This isn’t OUR FBI. This is one of Barry Sombrero’s “17 intelligence communities” the “media” kept telling us were sitting around crying when an American had been elected President of the United States in 2016. Agent Cross-eyed Hurricane Windbag and his girlfriend Liesa.

The first reform needed is to end the “FBI process crime” scam!

If an FBI interview occurs:

1. It must recorded and a record (including all notes!) left with the interviewee. The original recording & notes are “discoverable” by the legal representatives of interviewee.

2. Any discrepancy between original notes\recording and the ones used for further investigation potentially puts both sides in legal jeopardy.

3. Failure by the FBI to do this means the interview never happened. No further government action can take place without that record which both parties have access to.

It’s amazing to me that this has been allowed to happen for so long.

Why do our FBI agents so regularly abuse their power?

It's the result of decades of court decisions expanding police power, especially for minor offenses, as well as creating "qualified immunity" for illegal actions. The pendulum may finally swing back to more accountability for law enforcement officiers, but much damage has been done to basic civil rights.

Weren’t the government employees at the Nat’l Archive the same people who allowed “Mr. Sloppy, Sloppy, Sloppy” Sandy Burglar to stuff his underwear, socks, shirt, pants and shoe full of Clinton documents?

I agree but modify your argument with maintaining a national crime laboratory and the mind hunter program.

The only thing I’d say about the FBI is that they aren’t “our agents.” They are agents of a regime dedicated to leftist, anti-American ideology. It (FBI) was created to deal with gangsters, using gangsters and gangster methodology. There’s been no change in that regard except they’re not after ‘gangsters’ now. Just normal Americans who aren’t leftists.

They have to be vigilant or risk losing their name, the Federal Bureau of Intimidation. It makes their job so much easier if everyone just collapses and lies spread-eagle on the floor as soon as they flash their badges.

It is simple. Power corrupts. Power without accountability corrupts absolutely. The entire agency needs to be destroyed root and branch. there is no way to ‘reform’ it.

Because *Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.*

Acton was incorrect. It is power without accountability that absolutely corrupts. Power with accountability is a necessary evil.
