A Short History of Palestinian Rejectionism
Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies ^ | February 16, 2020 | Dr. Edy Cohen

Taking into account all the peace initiatives proposed to end the conflict between the Jews and the Palestinian Arabs over the last 83 years, we must consider the possibility that the Palestinians—or at least their leaders—do not want to establish their own state.

Their sight is currently set on the big prize—the entire state of Israel—and they are playing for time....

The Jerusalem Mufti Hajj Amin Husseini, the leader of the Palestinian Arabs from the early 1920s to the late 1940s...suggested that the Jews be deported from Palestine. Rejecting the idea of a Jewish state, he promised that if such a state were established, every last Jew would be expelled from a Palestinian Arab state.

The UN partition plan

In November 1947, the same Mufti refused to adopt the UN partition plan that offered to establish two states, one Jewish, the other Arab. The Mufti rejected a two-state solution until the day he died,...Had he agreed to the UN plan, they would have gained a much larger area than what is on offer today.

Yasser Arafat

The successor to the Mufti, Yasser Arafat, continued to reject any legitimacy for the State of Israel, refusing even to acknowledge its existence....Arafat was responsible for devastation across the Middle East,...

At the July 2000 at Camp David summit, Israel PM Ehud Barak offered Arafat a series of far-reaching concessions as part of a comprehensive peace arrangement. In return, Arafat was asked to end the conflict. The PLO summarily rejected the Israeli proposals and never offered a counterproposal. Instead, the PLO-dominated Palestinian Authority (PA) initiated a massive premeditated wave of violence...

In August 2005, the government of Israel, headed by PM Ariel Sharon, carried out the unilateral evacuation of all Israeli villages from the Gaza Strip and the northern West Bank. In response, the Palestinians have been launching missiles and rockets on Israeli towns and villages from the Gaza Strip for years, some of which reaching as far as Tel Aviv.

Instead of using the enormous Israeli concession as an opportunity to achieve peace, the Palestinians used it to empower Iranian-backed terrorist organizations. In June 2007, Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip in a violent coup.... The number of rockets/missiles and mortar shells fired into Israel from Gaza since 2007 is in the tens of thousands.

Mahmoud Abbas

In 2008, Israeli PM Ehud Olmert offered Arafat’s successor as PLO Chairman and PA president Mahmoud Abbas a sweeping peace proposal. Abbas rejected it outright....

The Palestinian leadership rejected the current US proposal a year ago, before they had seen it.

It is Quranic Islam, and this is not new, thus the ancient prayer of the psalmist:

Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah. (Psalms 83:1-8)

I see but a single solution to Israel’s problem: KTB.

There are two. But only two.

Calling it “rejectionism” is misleading.

It’s a war and they’re not beaten, or at least not ready to surrender.

Who quits first will determine the outcome since neither side has yet seemed capable of victory.

Sioux and Comanche rejectionism ended when they gave up. The Palestinians aren’t ready.

A very incomplete history of the conflict. Totally ignores the Zionist terrorism of Begin and others prior to 1947, such as the King David hotel bombing. The Zionist terrorist tactics became the blueprint for modern Islamic terrorism. I don’t think there is a “solution” to this long standing conflict, other than one side eliminating the other. Horrible situation all around.

If IIRC the Zionist terrorism prior to 1947 with its King David hotel bombing - aimed at the British due to their blocking the creation of an independent Jewish state, in the interest of Muslims, who were intolerant of the Jews, was by a paramilitary faction of Israelites.

The question is, who has a right to the land? The people who historically possessed the land as a state, a formal kingdom of theocratic government and laws, this being central to its faith and sacred texts, who lost the land due to disobedience to the latter, and suffered greatly due to that, but thru a succession of conquerors were given a portion of their homeland back, or a largely nomadic people whose "holy" book does not even mention Jerusalem, and are largely intolerant of Jews?

Yet Israel has thousands of Arab citizens, with their own political party, etc. but who do not have to serve in the military.

By your logic, we should turn the US back over to Indian tribes.

By your logic, we should turn the US back over to Indian tribes.

Which Indians among the many, with multitudinous languages among them? Which non-nomadic state? Or do you imagine there they all were one, and or all lived peacefully with each other, and all remained in one area?

And who did they displace, if any? Should it be given back to Asians or whoever came here first from Africa?

Of course, genetics themselves do not define a nation. As for Israel, if any of the organized Canaanite tribes that the Hebrew nation defeated (but did not totally exterminate) come back and want to reclaim their land then they can fight for it. Or the past conquerors of the land.

Islam is what basically makes the Palestinians (which they did not call themselves) one people, but that false religion certainly \came after the Hebrews, while they never established a state in the land of Israel.

There are plenty of places in the arab world where these losers could have been settled over the past 50 years, but strangely, they aren’t welcome there. If I were Israel, I’d dump them all in Iran.
