An 18-year-old man in Sahibganj district of Jharkhand drowned after he jumped into deep water from a height to make an Instagram reel, police said on Tuesday.
The man, Tausif, jumped into a quarry lake from a height of about 100 feet on Monday evening. His friends, who were bathing in the lake, tried to save him but were unsuccessful.
They alerted locals and police, and a search operation was launched. The youth's body was recovered later.
A video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows the young man jumping into the water while his friend records the dare. However, as soon as he started swimming after falling into the water, he began to drown.

Wonder how much time he spent growing up - falling out of trees; jumping into streams ; scraping knees... - .
We learn life's lessons gradually.
A family has just moved next door to me. They have two girls about 6 and 7. I've never seen them out playing in the warm weather. Look fit enough when they venture out in the car. Do they spend their time playing video games; on social media or what.
Not natural...
Sorry for that foolish young man. Hope he rests in peace.
Bad form, old chap.
Hoe did you survive?
It hurts and your legs collapse but if you stay straight and point your toes it is fine.
Darwin at work ... no surprise here.

There’s more thought in your sentence than that young foolish teen could have ever imagined.
Beat me to it.
From that height I would think the impact would rupture internal organs and blood vessels. How deep are you submerged once you hit the water from 75 feet up? Seems like you’d be down 10-15 feet underwater.
Why did you remove my post? I didn't break any rules.
It can feel like concrete at much lower heights than that but yeah 75 or a 100 ft will do that as well.
I was thinking the same, but there is also The Fugitive:

Longest drop for me was 40+ feet at Fort Lewis, multiple times. Water was 55 degrees, took my breath away. No issues after the first time. 100 feet? No way in hell.

He might have had a chance if some of his idiot friends had been where they could get to him quicker.
We had twin in our high school back in the day who went swimming in a quarry. First kid dived in and didn’t come up so his brother jumped in after him. Neither came up. They got tangled up in some junk that had been thrown in the quarry.
He jumped from a reported 100 feet and he was only submerged for 2 seconds.
Weird.

he landed in a belly flop... that busted him up pretty good. he soon realized it in his first attempt at a swim stroke.
Did an 80 footer into Cultas lake. Only reason I did in the first place, was the water was choppy. Still felt like being hit by a truck. Was all I could do to hang onto a gunwale of a boat to be drug back to where I could get out. If it wasn’t for my wetsuit, I may not have made it.
