A cruise line has offered the adventure of a lifetime for retirees to explore the world in luxury and give them a chance to beat inflation.
Villa Vie Residences has launched their Endless Horizons program, which allows passengers to set sail on the Villa Vie Odyssey ship and take off on a seven-continent adventure on May 30.
The luxury cruise liner requires a one time payment of $299,999 for a single room and $499,999 for a double occupancy cabin.
'One aspect most people nearing retirement age are concerned about is ongoing living expenses and the possibility of outliving their savings,' Kathy Villalba, the Chief Operating Officer of Villa Vie Residences, said.
'This program eliminates that concern altogether while offering the ultimate dream: exploring every corner of the world by sea.'
The once in a lifetime experience lasts for 1,301 days, allowing passengers to visit 147 countries, 425 destinations, and more than 100 islands.
According to the company's website, some of the wonderous places that the ship will stop at along the way includes the Eiffel Tower, Rio de Janeiro, Greenland, the Caribbean, Australia, Bali and more.
Passengers can even visit some of the biggest spots in the US, including New York City, Miami and Washington D.C. There is also an option to 'customize your voyage' so travelers can pick and choose where they want to go.
The ship, which is currently docked in Belfast, Northern Ireland, also features all-inclusive dining, medical consultations, excursions, high-speed internet, and the ability to invite family and friends onboard.
For $129 a night, friends and family of passengers are allowed to join the adventurous retirees onboard.
The cruise offers wellness classes and fitness facilities and a boat load of activities onboard, including gourmet dining options, and entertainment options.

There appear to monthly fees on top of “ownership”. Kind of like a really high HOA. I bet the assessments could be pretty steep too.

$384.32 per night (with “up front” pymt. for 1301 nights) doesn’t seem like much of a “deal”!
Their “Lifetime” ticket doesn’t even exceed the lifetime of a toad or pigeon:

This cruise is not ownership.
1301 days is 1 circumnavigation. Ownership is for the life of the ship, and guaranteed at least 15 years and 4+ circumnavigations. But the purchase price doesn’t include monthly fees, which are about the same price as someone booking individual segments. Assuming 2 people, the monthly fees for a balcony stateroom are $8,000. A balcony suite is $9,000/mo.
And I’m sure there is fine print that allows “assessments” when there is a major accident or some major repairs are needed.

They have to cover a lot of operational costs. Meals, fuel, port fees and salaries. At least the fees are fixed!

That's why I put ownership in scare quotes. It's 15 years. More of a lease. But the "purchase price" is only a fraction of the price. Over 15 years the monthly fees will be about $1.5M. For a 190 sf room.
I'm assuming the purchase contract includes some fine print, just like any multi-unit dwelling, that allows assessments for unexpected costs that can not be covered by monthly fees or insurance. Obviously my assumption isn't informed by actually reading their purchase contract...

I'm a retired senior citizen that thinks $545 a month for rent is a pretty good ray of sunshine seeing as people in this country are paying thousands a month for postage stamp sized holes in crime-ridden neighborhoods.

I’m very happy to sleep in my own bed after ~22 days in Spain and ~14 days in New England.
