A man from Ipswich caught up in the infected blood scandal tells us no amount of money will ever make up for the impact it's had on his - and his family's - life.
Alan Burgess tells us he lost his health, friends and businesses after he was given blood infected with HIV whilst being treated for Haemophilia in 1985.
A report into the scandal, which affected more than 30,000 people during the 1970s and 1980s, is due out next week.

I wonder if they will mention this in the report which is out Monday
I remember how giddy the gaystapo was when Ryan White, the young boy who needed blood transfusions, was infected with AIDS so the gays could finally say it wasn’t a disease among the sodomites. It still is a disease spread among the sodomites and their drug using allies. BUT HEY. “A little boy got it with our infected blood so party on.”
Goblin Fauci will not get held accountable.
The AIDS medication commercials are the most vile, disgusting ads on TV. Make me want to puke.
Too bad for him and his family, prolly vote D -
but seriously whoever came up with the idea that likely carriers of the AIDS virus should donate blood should be charged and tried with a crime.
This disease wouldn’t exist if homos could exercise self control.
“..The AIDS medication commercials are the most vile, disgusting ads on TV. Make me want to puke....”
You, me and probably a huge amass of other sane folks.
We’d probably have to take a number and get in line.....LOL
Somehow I doubt they’ve ever had the opportunity to ‘vote D’...
“..Goblin Fauci will not get held accountable....”
Fauci’s days are numbered.
The mass-murdering SOB will be judged and held accountable by “The Judge”.
The grim reaper will see to it soon enough.
There was not test for HIV before 1984.
Not sure what the Clintons had to do with this. I have never heard of them being in the blood business. Also this article is about England and its handling of the AIDS Crisis.
The article says he was infected in 1985 which means he has been a long term survivor of HIV/AIDS. The article references that HIV/AIDS was around in the 1970s. It was not, the first diagnois of a blood disorder showed up in 1979.
I don’t think Magic Johnson was a Sodomite.
The Village Voice said that prior to the AIDS epidemic sexually active gay men in New York might have sex with 500 different partners per year. Gays are more likely to engage in anal sex, which apparently is the primary means of infection, so your observation is correct. AIDS spread like wildfire through the homosexual community. The fact that gays were more likely to be intravenous drug users who shared "works" facilitated the spread to straight intravenous drug users.
Had it became public in the 1980s,it would have become an issue for his campaign for the presidency, and I do not remember it being one. But then there are many things that I can't date exactly or probably even remember. 😋
Report from 2016:
In early 1999, a group of Canadian hemophiliacs infected with HIV and hepatitis C descended on Washington DC. They wanted an inquiry into why the United States, particularly the Food and Drug Administration, allowed the export of tainted prison plasma from Arkansas and Louisiana to Canada in the 1980s. At the time, Bill Clinton was governor of Arkansas, and the FDA had already ruled that prison plasma was too unsafe to be used for the manufacture of blood products inside the USA. Report from 1999:
Tainted Plasma Traced to Arkansas Prison: Bill Clinton's Blood Trail
My guess would be 1998-1999 would be when it became public, but I can't find real confirmation. But I do think it was a while before the source was revealed. Clinton had to suspect he was in large part, responsible for the reports coming out of Canada & else where.
This article might provide the most information, but I haven't read it completely, but have skimmed it:
A small extract (Last updated: January 30, 2024):
The Arkansas prison blood scandal resulted from the state’s selling plasma extracted from prisoners at the Cummins Unit of the Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC). Corruption among the administrators of the prison blood program and poor supervision resulted in disease-tainted blood, often carrying hepatitis or HIV, knowingly being shipped to blood brokers, who in turn shipped it to Canada, Europe, and Asia. Revelation of the misdeeds and the healthcare crisis it created in Canada nearly brought down the Liberal Party government in 1997. In 1994, Arkansas became the last state to stop selling plasma extracted from prisoners.
Arkansas’s prison blood program began in 1964 as a way for both prisoners and the prison system to make money. (Arkansas law forbids paying prisoners for their labor.) Set up by Birmingham, Alabama, physician August R. Staugh, it was, from 1967 to 1978, managed at various times by a group of physicians from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Campus (now the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences) in Little Rock (Pulaski County) and by the Department of Correction itself. In 1978, the state contracted with Health Management Associates Inc. (HMA), founded by pediatrician Francis “Bud” Henderson of Pine Bluff (Jefferson County), to run both the prison medical program and the plasma program. HMA sold each unit of plasma for fifty dollars, and the donating prisoner was usually paid seven dollars in scrip.
No kidding.
Agreed. I am going to guess that is Ipswich in the UK, not in Massachusetts in the US. The spelling of Hematology as “Haematology” is a dead giveaway, as is the phone and address.
My favorite professor died of AIDS blood.
And gays are now allowed to donate.
Robert’s post in 13 explains the connections.
You are right, L would be labor and leftist across the pond.
Or ‘Republican’...
Hard to know, but certain ladies of night are known to carry germs.
