The journey from cucumber to pickle is long, arduous journey.
Some stars only get their big break after putting in years of work.
Pedro Pascal played numerous bit parts before making it big on “Game of Thrones.” Bryan Cranston only became a household name after “Malcolm in the Middle.” Pickles, after struggling for decades, became a viral celebrity after starring in Dr Pepper.
Empty cans of Dr. Pepper soda sit stacked in the warehouse before being filled at the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group Inc. bottling plant in Louisville, Kentucky, U.S., on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.Pickles and Dr Pepper — the latest trend that's dividing the internet.
This quirky video from 1980 explores how hard it is for a cucumber to break into stardom.
It follows one cucumber, fresh off the farm, as it tries to make it amongst the glitz and glamour. It is a difficult journey. The vegetable is just one of many hoping to make it to the big time. The path is long and arduous. Some find it too hard to handle, breaking under the pressure.
Our pickled protagonist survives and makes it to the big time — but is it truly what he wanted?

Coca-Cola muffins, Coca-Cola cobbler, Coca-Cola salad? Would you try these cola-infused recipes from 30 years ago?
This colossal sandwich may not be a club, but it is in a league of its own.
This chef took advantage of an '80s heatwave and a manhole cover to cook food in a crazy way.
Well, Rick Sanchez turned himself into a pickle when he was bored (also to get out of going to family counseling).
For me it’s only classic dills. I can’t stand sweet gherkins.
This explains the pickle shortage.
I was making some game hens in a Dutch over. The recipe calls for wild rice and chicken broth.
I forgot to buy the broth and used a couple cans of root beer instead. Let me tell you how amazing root beer rice tastes.
Deep fried dill pickles are awesome.
I'm a dill pickle fan. I don't like sweet pickles or relish. I used to enjoy Heinz Genuine Dill Pickles, but you can't find them anymore. I don't care for Kosher Dills either. Heinz makes Dill Relish, but no Dill Hamburger Chips. I don't like the squeeze plastic bottle Heinz puts their relish in as it comes out too fast, so I buy the Price Chopper brand dill relish in the jar. I get their dill hamburger chips too.
Mansfield started growing in population in the 1970’s and the town leaders wanted to get rid of that dang, smelly pickle plant.
Town threw all sorts of requirements and Best Made Pickles met and exceeded the required mandates.
Mansfield wanted to build a high school and several middle and elementary schools in the immediate area of the pickle plant but Best Made Pickles would not leave. Town even got rid of that smelly “eyesore” CowBell arena that was the longest serving weekly indoor rodeo center in the nation.
About 15+ years ago, Best Made Pickles went on the offensive to the town of Mansfield and applied for a parade permit and met all legal requirement to hold a parade in Mansfield.
The now annual parade is called Anything Green and is held around the period of St Patrick’s Day.
The modern Best Made Pickles plant is still at its original location and all the needed schools were built around it.
Dr Thunder beats Dr Pepper any day imo
*And you still smell the pickles in the area.
I don’t care for dills. They’re just not kosher.
Merciful Maude.
That sounds like a great way to add a bit of unexpected joy to plain rice!
Going to try it!
Any particular Root Beer brand?

Lived in Mansfield for many years. Enjoyed Best Maid pickles. Good on them!
Just reading that headline gives me heartburn
I don’t remember what I used. Just a macrobrew I had at the house.
