Putin's Crown Jewel Forced Into Fire Sale Amid Record Losses
Newsweek ^ | 5/9/2024 | Brendan Cole

Gazprom, the energy giant at the heart of Russia's economy, has announced it is selling property in Moscow, one week after posting record losses linked to restricted supplies to Europe linked to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

The company said on Wednesday that the properties include office and non-residential buildings, a car parking lot in the capital, and the Imperial Park Hotel and spa sanatorium and resort complex in Rogozino village, just outside of Moscow.

"Gazprom is engaged in a fire sale. They had their worst year in decades, and their production has fallen precipitously, down to what it was in the 1970s," said Tom O'Donnell, an energy and geopolitical analyst based in Berlin.

"This is a result of a miscalculation by Putin," he told Newsweek.

In announcing the real estate sale, Gazprom posted a statement on Telegram next to phone numbers for prospective purchasers. "Taking into account the completion of the relocation of the Gazprom Group companies to St. Petersburg, PJSC Gazprom is announcing its intention to sell real estate in Moscow," the statement said.

A good rule is to recognize that anything coming from an American MSM source is in effect coming from the Deep State, specifically the CIA. The narrative will conform to what the rulers want.

Prove it. I have seen the US carry on more wars that Russia has. The USSR was a totally different story.

You who claim to be America First need to realize that America is trapped on a planet with some very bad people on it. People whose business model is to take whatever they covet by brute force; and against whom America must defend when they do it, and where they do it, every time. Fail that obligation, and America will fail as a nation. Not only for ourselves, but for Europe, the cradle of our Western civilization. So am I an American patriot? Damned right I am.

Oh yes, and I am well aware of it. In fact, some of those very bad people have control of this nation currently. Time for you to see that. They are evil people with evil intentions. wake up to that reality, and perhaps we can start to fight the enemies from within who present us with far more danger than does Putin or Russia.

“What you fail to accept is that Putin was seeking a peaceful solution”

You mean he wanted to peacefully invade and annex Ukraine? And HOW DARE the Ukrainians oppose Putin’s peaceful armed invasion? And HOW DARE they be offended by Putin’s cowardly sneak attack into Crimea in 2014?

No, sorry. My husband fought the Russians and he killed some of them too. Now I want their evil empire put to a final end so they no longer pose a threat to anyone else ever again.

“Furthermore, you try to disparage me as someone that hates this country”

You do this all on your own and with no help needed from myself.

Gazprom's new St Petersburg HQ plan gets spiky response

Some residents of Russia's second-largest city pan gas giant's proposed 703-metre tower

Updated 2 June 2021, 03:40

Gazprom has reached for the sky, unveiling plans for new headquarters in St Petersburg in one of the world's tallest office towers.

The Russian state-controlled gas monopoly revealed details of the proposed behemoth during a meeting between chief executive Alexei Miller and St Petersburg governor Alexander Beglov.

The plans would involve a move from the company's current headquarters — the Lakhta Centre in the western Russian city — to the new 703-metre-tall building.

The proposal has surprised some residents, many of whom had vehemently protested against it.

The Lakhta Centre already includes a 462-metre spike-shaped tower, which some residents have complained excessively dominates the historic cityscape of St Petersburg and its fortresses.

You're hopeless little girl, because you are stuck on utterly stupid. You also refused to even read what I stated, because you are also a lazy person who believes she has all of the answers, only all you really have is a pocketful of propaganda that you spew forth like projectile vomit. Reality is something you avoid like the plague, which at some point in time will catch up to you. Shame that you cannot accept the truth. because ignoring the truth is extremely dangerous for all of us.

My husband fought the Russians and he killed some of them too. Now I want their evil empire put to a final end so they no longer pose a threat to anyone else ever again.

Tell me more. To my knowledge the US has never engaged Russia directly, militarily and this is just more of your propaganda.

Prove me wrong.

The US has indeed engaged in various military exercises and operations with Russia throughout its history, but never engaged them militarily, except for a few retaliatory strikes, that may or may have not caused a few deaths. But that would have been minor missile attacks that were sent more to make a point than to do real damage or harm. I think Trump even did so, once.

“You’re hopeless little girl, because you are stuck on utterly stupid.”

And you’re a pathetic cringing milksop with all the intellectual agility of a small soapdish.

“Prove me wrong.”

I am not proving anything to you. If you don’t like what I said then that’s your problem and not mine.

Russia’s economy and finances are under serious stress

what steaming pile of propaganda. Russia's economy is growing faster than ours or most Western ones:

Russia Lifts 2024 Growth Forecast as Economy Rides Sanctions

Economy Ministry says GDP will grow 2.8% in 2024, up from 2.3%

https://www.ft.com/content/21a5be9c-afaa-495f-b7af-cf937093144d

Russia’s economy will expand much more rapidly this year than previously expected, according to the IMF, as President Vladimir Putin’s military spending feeds through into wider growth.

Gross domestic product is forecast to rise 2.6 per cent this year, more than double the pace the IMF predicted as recently as October, and slightly slower than the 3 per cent expansion estimated for 2023.

The Russian upgrade, by 1.5 percentage points, is the largest for any economy featured in an update to the fund’s World Economic Outlook, released on Tuesday.

Is that the best you can do little girl?

I am not proving anything to you. If you don’t like what I said then that’s your problem and not mine.

I didn't think you would because it was all a lie to begin with. If it were true, then you would have been more than willing to prove me wrong.

Thanks for playing, clueless little girl.

Way past time for you to wake up though little clueless girl, because imminent danger is at our door and you are foolishly paying more attention to what they want you to pay attention to instead of what is happening to your nation, because you do not see.

None so blind as those who will not see.

Not sure why telling me about your husbands military involvement where he killed Russians, has to include profanity, or even graphic details.

There are four important negative details that merit consideration.

First, Russia’s nominal economic growth includes her military and war spending. These do not contribute to civilian well-being in a meaningful way even though they boost Russia’s GDP accounting.

Second, sanctions are beginning to bite and the effects will compound over time, especially on Russia’s civilian economy. Yes, China is helping subvert Western sanctions, but that help comes at a monetary and strategic price.

Third, Russian state finances are deteriorating as cash reserves are spent down to support the war effort. This injection of cash is helping spur Russia’s domestic inflation.

Four, to remedy a domestic labor shortage caused by military manpower demands, Russia is permitting massive Muslim immigration. This is compounding Russia’s internal security problems and aggravating Russia’s demographic decline.

If this seems counterintuitive, ask yourself whether war and spending on a war on the net benefits a country’s civilian economy. It really doesn’t — which is why peace is almost always preferable to war.
