Gazprom, the energy giant at the heart of Russia's economy, has announced it is selling property in Moscow, one week after posting record losses linked to restricted supplies to Europe linked to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
The company said on Wednesday that the properties include office and non-residential buildings, a car parking lot in the capital, and the Imperial Park Hotel and spa sanatorium and resort complex in Rogozino village, just outside of Moscow.
"Gazprom is engaged in a fire sale. They had their worst year in decades, and their production has fallen precipitously, down to what it was in the 1970s," said Tom O'Donnell, an energy and geopolitical analyst based in Berlin.
"This is a result of a miscalculation by Putin," he told Newsweek.
In announcing the real estate sale, Gazprom posted a statement on Telegram next to phone numbers for prospective purchasers. "Taking into account the completion of the relocation of the Gazprom Group companies to St. Petersburg, PJSC Gazprom is announcing its intention to sell real estate in Moscow," the statement said.

Russia’s economy and finances are under serious stress due to the Ukraine war. Gazprom’s sales to Europe are down heavily due to sanctions and displacement by LNG sales from the US. Earlier this year, Gazprom sold assets in the North Sea, and Putin just replaced Sergei Shoigu, his Defense Minister, with an economist with no military experience. Even as Russia continues to make gains on the battlefield in Ukraine, she may be unable to prosecute the war to the outcome Putin desires.

Even if the story is true, which is highly unlikely, I doubt the reason given is accurate. This guy is nothing but a mouth-piece for the Deep State at this point. I honestly do not even think that he cares what happens to Ukraine in reality. His motivation is purely to keep people supporting this conflict, when it provides no moral or logical reason for supporting it. But he thinks making false claims based around a possible reality makes it seem like the effort is having a real positive impact, even though there is no real evidence to support that claim. In fact, the opposite seems to be the reality, and this is a big waste of resources that is unfortunately most likely costing a lot of lives.

Anytime a company “invests” in other businesses that are not in its core areas, beware. Probably these things were bought as a way of funneling money to cronies. A business worth X but owned by a connected person gets sold for 10X. That sort of thing. Another issue is companies not in the core area are most likely going to be a drain on the core. One stock analyst called such purchases “deworsefication.” When you own stock in a company that does one thing but buys a sports team or a hotel that’s not related to its core business, it’s time to sell the stock. We saw this in virtually all of the Chinese real-estate developers.
America. You should try being one yourself. Our involvement in this conflict is only raising the viability of our becoming even more involved then we ever should have gotten in the first place. Creating a possibility for this conflict to escalate into a global affair, instead of remaining a regional one.
Russia and “regional conflict” in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

What you fail to accept is that Putin was seeking a peaceful solution, however, we were looking for an excuse to hold a proxy war with Russia. Ukraine was to be the battlefield, & the Ukrainian men were to be the combatants.
There were two Minsk Accords signed to facilitate a peaceful resolution, but they were never implemented. We later learned from Merkle herself was stepping down that they had no intention of implementing the Minsk Accords, that they were used entirely to buy time in order to build up Ukraine's military & train them how to use the arms we would supply.
That alone should have clued you into what was really wanted, and that it wasn't peace. Instead you refused to accept reality and chose to buy the propaganda. I'm sorry, but that reflects poorly upon you and your lack of critical thinking skills, because this is very clear evidence that you totally ignored, that this was a setup to wage the proxy war that the rand Corporation had gamed planned. even the expose of that game plan you still brushed off the truth, Sadly, the rand Corporation advised against it being done, as they deemed it wrought with too many unknowns & deemed it unwise.
Then, shortly after Russia pulled the trigger and invaded , Zelenskyy & Putin met and had hammered out a settlement to end the hostilities if Ukraine would accept to remain neutral. Russia promised to return the landmass that they had seized and controlled in eastern Ukraine, however, he refused to return the Crimea stating that is was far too important to Russia's national security. They were ready to sign the agreement in their follow up meeting. However, before that meeting could take place Boris Johnson met with Zelenskyy and told him not to make any deal with Putin. With the assurance that NATO would have Ukraine's back Zelenskyy backed out of the deal.
Of course, you have poo-pooed this all along as propaganda, when sadly you can't distinguish propaganda from the truth.
So no, its not a case of us having two differing opinions. It's a case of you believing the propaganda over the truth.
Furthermore, you try to disparage me as someone that hates this country, when the truth is I despise these people who are communists who stole the 2020 election to seize control, and take over this nation from what the founders has envisioned we could make it into in the future.
