dancing peacock spider is interesting
Hummingbird Moth. I saw one for the first time last month in our Salvia. It flew by me so quick with fast beating wings that I really thought it was a hummingbird. But then I noticed the shorter body and different coloration.

The only one they showed that I liked was the Glasswinged Butterfly.
The first time we visited my parents after they moved to Oklahoma, we had driven for 13 hours straight with 3 kids, and were absolutely exhausted. They lived in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment, so we prepared the living room for sleep with 2 sofas and pallets on the floor. My daughter wanted to sleep with her grandparents, so my husband, our teenager, the baby and myself started settling in. I was just about to lay my head on the pallet when an evil looking, 1 inch long bright red and black wire ant skittered across my pillow. It looked like a piece of jewelry. I jumped up and announced to my husband, “Um, I’ve decided to take the couch!” I didn’t tell him why.
The author left out fish. I hate mosquitos but trout eat tons of them. I'm sure other fish do too but trout are the fish I used to love fishing for.
