I took my daughter to Orlando in 1996 and we decided to drive out to Cape Canaveral to watch the Space Shuttle landing.
About 100 yards from the parking lot entrance a huge gator lumbered across the road in front of us and as we pulled into the parking lot there were signs all around that warned you to stay on the sidewalks and to beware of alligators.
