Three people have been arrested after a pre-arranged brawl involving more than two dozen women escalated from beating, cutting and bludgeoning to include gunfire that wounded three women, New Orleans police said.
"It was an agreed-upon fight, and that was part of the issue," said Orleans Parish Magistrate Commissioner Jonathan Friedman on Monday afternoon at a bond-setting for two of three arrested suspects. "But this is the societal problem we have. People want to bring firearms to fistfights."
Police said conflict related to a murder seeded the Feb. 15 clash near a Florida-area park. A fight was set between Ireionne "Yyonyonn" Peters, 29, and a woman named Wendy, according to police in an affidavit for an arrest warrant.
A group of women called Wendy, "harassing her to meet up and fight her," the documents say. Wendy alerted a family member who then called Peters and was threatened with harm if she showed up at the Odie Davis Park-adjacent fisticuffs, according to police.
"Me and my girls are gonna flush you!" Peters allegedly told the family member, who was undeterred. She arrived to see Wendy getting cut and beaten by several women, including one who wielded a sock with a heavy object inside, police say. The family member ended up getting "jumped herself by several females" when she tried to intervene, police allege.
"Air this bitch out!" Peters allegedly screamed. Soon, two men began firing into the crowd, an eruption captured and shared on social media. The images show people fleeing amid a fusillade that lasted for almost 40 seconds. Police technicians would place more than 80 evidence markers on Law Street.

Productive members of society don't do things like this.
Nawlins isn’t a very appropriate place to talk about “flushing” people, IMHO.
Shouldn’t Wendy be making hamburgers instead of getting into a brawl?
Just another day in the “Chocolate City”.
Would Scott Adams and John Derbyshire, please, pick up the white courtesy phone?

Tip: If it’s confusing you as much as it confused me, “Florida” in this article isn’t about the state but about an area in southeast Louisiana (the top of the “toe” section of the state that looks like it would be in southwest Mississippi if the state lines were drawn a little differently).
A little impulse control goes a long way.
Shia vs. Sunni. We should encourage it. I don’t know why. Someone please help.
“But this is the societal problem we have. People want to bring firearms to fistfights.”
Yeah, if they would just stick to fistfights, everything would be cool.
This is what a “Chocolate” city looks like, right Mayor Nagin?
Oh, that’s right: You ended up...
...In 2014, Nagin was convicted on twenty of twenty-one charges of wire fraud, bribery, and money laundering related to bribes from city contractors before and after Katrina and was sentenced to ten years in federal prison.
A product of his own Chocolate City!
“In 2014, Nagin was convicted on twenty of twenty-one charges of wire fraud, bribery, and money laundering related to bribes from city contractors before and after Katrina and was sentenced to ten years in federal prison.”
Thanks for the reminder. Wonder if he’s out now?
Why do the cops even bother to respond?
“It was an agreed-upon fight, and that was part of the issue,” said Orleans Parish Magistrate Commissioner Jonathan Friedman on Monday afternoon...”
It’s called a rumble. Please make a note of it.
By the grace of God and zero marksmanship.
You don’t want to know what’s between this Wendy’s buns.I
Never count on your enemies being incompetent idiots.
Be grateful when they turn out that way ...
I guess it’s some of that “rural, white rage”. I don’t know the ethnicity of the people involved, but I’m going to guess it was not Caucasian Iowa farm boys. They’re busy this time of year planting corn to feed a hungry America.
It was the sisters of Obeyme, I’ll bet.
Don't want to be on the wrong side of one of those!
