ROSE, Idaho — The man who was shot and killed by an 85-year-old woman during a home invasion had parked at least a mile away from her home, walked, and then broke in through a window with a screwdriver. The incident happened on March 13 off 134 West and 600 North. Bingham County prosecuting attorney Ryan Jolley described the home where it all happened as a secluded area surrounded by fields.

I’m glad she won. SHe’s evidence of the benefit of lifelong practice.
...good shoot’in granny!
So, how is she doing now?
That explains it. She was trained to shoot center mass. If she had shot him in the head, instead, she most likely would not have been shot herself.

No other information other than she is alive.
I don't often ask this, but may we all offer our prayers?
Two the chest,
One to the head,
Makes sure,
They’re really . . . Stopped.
Yeah, stopped, that’s it. I was shooting to stop the threat, and that’s all I will say until my attorney is present.

Or... how about this (the female, probably blonde, response)...
I don’t know what happened officer. I was so scared, I tried to pull the trigger and my finger got stuck and it wouldn’t stop firing!
.357....99% that it was a revolver. Revolvers do not work that way and neither do stock pistols.
11 shots...eleven twitches of the trigger finger.
So the cops would call it a lie.
Curious...
If she was handcuffed to a chair, how did she shoot?
Amazing she was able to move to her bedroom and back to the living room while cuffed. Wonder how long it took her for him not to notice or hear.
A brave woman.
There was a rare shooting in town...I figured it was a few days ago, but I just checked...18 hours ago, and I’ve seen doorbell camera video, and know where the house is located. Blasted out on FB. . Tweeker going off on the porch with a golf club apparently made entry. He was shot, but survived.
“So the cops would call it a lie.”
Not a lie. Merely a result of being “in shock” and not remembering it accurately. It happens. Especially with blondes.
More likely not the best ammo for self protection. A /357 withe the proper ammo is a fearsome weapon.
Even so, my choice is the 45 Colt...with the same attention to proper ammo. I have several of each and like both, but the .45 Colt is my choice.
Prayers up for heroic lady. I read about details, she had already been assaulted (in the very early hours of the day) and handcuffed to a chair before she retrieved her weapon. A disabled (adult) son also lived in the home. She lay badly wounded for ten hours before the son appeared and helped her to summon assistance.
I also found out that Rose ID (which has few on-line references) must be near Idaho Falls as it is in Bingham County.
One article I found suggests she is slowly recovering from the serious wounds.

As a result of signing up with the Nextdoor app... I now realize that my area is getting more dangerous by the day. Every day it’s either someone stealing someone’s car, porch-pirating, drunken person passed out on someone’s doorstep, people coming to their door and trying to open it, gunfire, SWAT actions, police called, you name it.
It has made me more paranoid but also more careful about keeping the doors locked at night and pistol within reach. This southern border invasion we’re experiencing is going to get real.... real quick, I suspect. And sooner or later, that post about a crime on the app might be mine.
No argument there because in his case she was in an area with sensible law enforcement. I was guilty of thinking in terms of prosecutors who would rasher get a conviction than seek justice.
Likely a double action revolver. Pulling the trigger pulls the hammer back to a ready position and drops it on the firing pin. It also indexes the cylinder.
I pass the area once a week on the path between Pocatello and Idaho Falls. From I-15, there is a Rose-Firth off-ramp. I prefer to drive up US-91 that passes directly through Firth. It's a large potato growing area. Very rural. Small town. The next town north of Firth is Shelley.
