This is the downstream effect. How long to reopen for shipping?

The bolded part is one of those random little tidbits that may/may not be a data point to watch.

Don’t worry, Mayor Pete is on the case. A more competent leader could not be found anywhere.

East Palestine Ohio, the sequel.

Tin foil hat time. Was this ship hacked then steered DIRECTLY INTO the bridge's support column? Curious minds want to know.

Paging Pete BootyFudge.

Could this be Biden's covid moment? His Katrina? His Iran Hostage crisis?

Come on man! He already has Afghanistan, Ukraine, Haiti, and a migrant border crisis!

MSM says he's great!

“How long to reopen for shipping?”

I’d say by the end of April give or take a couple weeks. Clearing the ship channel will be a priority for everyone involved.

If the Navy was still active in Baltimore they’d have it cleared in the next few days. Probably before dinner time on Friday.

Maybe we need to stop importing and do things ourselves. Will we ever learn?

Capitalism is surprisingly effective at working around bottlenecks. This won’t cause much of a problem.

It’ll go quicker than expected. Just goes to show that there is no margin for error given this clownish administration’s policies.

Baltimore Port’s Closure Threatens Inflation and Bigger Deficits

Well, what doesn't these days?

Cue “it’s Trump’s fault for not urging republicans to pass my immigration security bill”

Good thing Biden has placed the best and brightest in charge of national security and infrastructure. Will Mayor Pete take time out from his busy vacations to ensure that every resource possible is available?

And 80 billion in goods moved through there? The fed prints twice that in a month... The propaganda to blame all new inflation on this and Trump and not insane levels of printing will be interesting.

If it happens a second time elsewhere, the US will have to take command of every ship arriving in port. Ajin?

Our war may be expanded from Ukraine.

The main concern for shipping is the collection of vessels that are trapped inside the harbor.

For anything outside the harbor, every maritime shipping company and their partners have already implemented emergency operations plans to divert cargo to neighboring ports.

Automobiles, light trucks and other RO-RO cargo are probably the biggest concern, as Baltimore is a key hub port for these cargoes. Other neighboring ports may not have the landside capacity to handle a sharp increase in these cargo volumes.

Shippers will adjust with some expense they will eat and some they will pass on. Compared to Biden’s trillions in new money (federal borrowing) the bridge collapse will be a bare blip on the inflation radar.

"The Port of Baltimore has been brought to a standstill thanks to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, creating risks to the U.S. economy of additional inflation, diminished productive capacity, and larger government deficits."

Maybe it was terrorism / assymetric warfare and this was the goal.

The Russia / China / Iran axis wants a war, with the US, while Pedo Joe is still in office.

What effect will the closure of this port have, if we are at war with Russia in eastern Europe?
