Westfield ceased paying for a large mall in San Francisco last year. Over half of the stores had left/closed. Outside are the tents the sidewalks with used needles,
Sometimes there are articles and comments that these buildings and commercial properties will be sold for 10 cents on the dollar. My response is, who would want to purchase anything in that area. What retailer or service would try to set up a business where the homeless and drug addicts own the town?

Apparently the mall operator (Westfield) wants out of the lease because of homelessness and crime concerns. But I don’t think it’s closed yet.
Thanks for the link. I’m still watching it. Just caught a glimpse of the National Guard within the mall, near the turnstiles, and what are they doing? Standing together in a group, talking to each other. Very bad security practice. They’re there to observe, not gab.

NYC is finished.
Malls are shutting down due to the advent of online shopping. While I am sure theft played a role in this, I’m not sure to what extent. Malls are shuttering all over the country and it’s not due to theft. Even with zero crime malls are on the way out.
I hate to see the malls disappearing the way they are. They were so efficient for shoppers.
