Re: the $22,000 in cash collected by the park during the previous year...

<>

That’s $60 per day, and they say they need an armored car transport?

They built a wall around our fed parks which we, the taxpayer, paid for and refuse us entry? This is while illegals stream over the border demanding help. They’re defending the wrong wall.

Most places want cash purchases so they don’t have to pay Obiden’s credit card buddies.

That crap has caused me to stop tipping everyone except waiters and waitresses and I leave cash on the table.

Pretty soon you’re cash won’t have the value of a sheet of toilet paper! CBDC will assign you a number to be used for ALL financial transactions! Your currency won’t be worth a plugged nickel!

Cash is this nations legal tender.

“This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private.”

Are our federal parks no longer part of the US?

I do not care what it costs extra. It’s not up to some SES2 dweeb in the government wearing a cheap suit making the decision over what currency this country uses.

A former Metro parking manager says the millions of dollars missing in Metro parking lot revenue is due to mismanagement and faulty data-tracking equipment, not employee theft.

You can't use cash to pay for parking in DC Metro system. If given the opportunity, the employees are going to steal.

“park service said that the $22,000 in cash collected by the park during the previous year took more than $40,000 to process.”

🤣🤣🤣

This is why we can’t have nice things.

The hypocrisy of these people is stunning. They don’t want to require IDs to vote because they claim it discriminates against people that don’t drive yet require credit cards to go to a national park.

Corruption is a problem when it comes to the government. It's harder to get an employee fired.

In the private sector, a business must remain profitable. So they're going to catch their employees stealing. How will you do that with Uncle Sam?

Some are probably owned by China at this point

Even better is to put the tip directly into the waiter’s hand. It’s becoming common for other waiters and even patrons to take it off the table.

Yep. If they refuse to take cash, it seems the service should be free.

Took advantage of this several years ago. "Perseverando" posted the following article in 2017. Hugely good deal...used it a number of times.

"America the Beautiful - National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass ($10 to $80 8/28)"

“all debts, public and private”

You incur the debt upon legal entry.
No entry without cash payment, so no “debt” has been levied.

But . . . Public accomodations are a different animal and cash “payment” must be accepted.
Easy win.

a ‘purchase’ is not the same thing as a ‘debt’.

Once you take possession of it from the shelf, it's a debt you owe until you pay for it at the register.

And, if you pay by credit card it remains a debt until you pay down the balance on the card.

Looks like discrimination to me. Against those who do not carry credit cards.

Here’s a shocking proposal: Get rid of the fees. Basically, NPS is admitting that collecting fees is worse financially than allowing free access. So why not free access?

There’s a huge state park near me that uses the honor system, by the way. Drop your money in the hole. And they explicitly state that if you can’t afford it, don’t worry about it.

I remember when they named the DC airport after Reagan. “Do you have any idea how much it will cost to change the name? The signage, the updated maps!” You’d’ve thought we could balance the budget deficit, but for renaming DCA.

The next year the same agency renamed BWI after Thurgood Marshall. Nary a peep.
