This is how the MIC wastes a trillion a year and is defenseless when dealing with modern, low profit defense systems. Every tank we see in Ukraine is in dire danger from drone technology. The next generation MIC improvements ignore what’s making tanks obsolete and goes for better mileage. At least they will be life savers with a smaller crew and fewer casualties when these “improved” tanks are destroyed by modern drones. I’m surprised that better protection from IEDs isn’t the Pentagon’s main concern going forward.

Aren’t tanks just mobile targets? Seems like a waste of money. How about a new verison of an A-10? Lots of them.

Maybe the US should buy the T-14? Oh, wait...Russia canceled it.

It will double the fuel economy to 2 miles per gallon! I don’t know what pinheads though a turbine engine in a tank would make sense.

People at liberal think tank publications had issues with just about every weapon in the US inventory prior to Desert Storm. Then US hardware demonstrated its superiority by helping to clean Saddam’s clock and then some.

$900 billion a year for the MIC.

We could cut all defense spending to $25 billion and have all the bullets, beans, and bandages we would need.

America’s defense industry can best be described as a bloated DC bureaucratic kleptocracy

One model is the completely state-run, state-controlled version used by China or Russia

An opposite version is free-market, contract-bid, private technology and capital model.

Much like American health-care, we’ve created a bizarre hybrid - government dominated, heavy DC political/ideological interference, limited competition, but with nearly unlimited costs for connected cronies, paid for with massive debt.

Shouldn’t we be developing Drone Tanks? Every accommodation for a crew can be eliminated. “Harden” them defensively and load more shells in them.

If nothing else the war in Ukraine is revealing the weakness in our weapons before it could have been us under attack.

Tanks come to mind first as easy targets for drone attacks but even things like fighter planes seem vulnerable too.

hybrid electric diesel engine

Why? Is there a legitimate military need for a hybrid electric diesel engine in a tank, or are we now trying to keep the next war as environmentally friendly as possible?

“The AbramsX, an advanced variant of the M1 Abrams tank, represents a significant technological leap with its hybrid electric diesel engine...”

Good to hear that the military is moving towards a more ‘green’ approach to fighting its wars, even if it means many thousands of AMERICANS needlessly dying in the battlefields, after all it’s for a great cause, saving the planet.

And so, again, I will state a MAJOR REASON why I oppose US involvement in Ukraine, or any other war that doesn’t threaten us or our interests, is because the people RUNNING THE WAR are the same military-haters that I grew up with. The LAST THING they want is a military that is capable of fighting and winning.

The war in Ukraine is providing the world with real war lessons if our military leaders would learn.

Drones our today’s air superiority, and as someone else mentioned tanks are today’s battleships.

“ represents a significant technological leap…”

FALSE.

Represents a significant wast3 of time now, and human lives in the future.
