I'm getting concerned myself about this crisis and what's unfolding. Yes, the daily news reports are having an effect on me.
Conditions look horrific and the charities are warning hundreds of thousands face famine or acute hunger within weeks or the next month.
Aid is not getting through to them so yes, i'm concerned considering the numbers.
Please try and show some compassion. I dont mind if you flame me for this.
This could be a proper humanitarian crisis unless it gets resolved.
I sincerely wish those idiots in charge there would do what we all want and release the hostages.
However, this cannot be the fault of starving and malnourished children.
Sorry! 😢
Anyone else feel this way? Maybe I'm alone here on this... :/
I don't mind really, there are diverse opinions.
Maybe I'm like the canary in the coalmine?
Do you have any sympathy for the innocent Israelis that were butchered and taken into the depths of the tunnels to be tortured and used as sex slaves?
I wonder…
Quality not quantity 😂
You find humor in this? You are depraved.
The people “starving” in Gaza are 90% supportive of the murdering Hamas terrorists. These people are fully responsible for their present plight.
Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.
No you’re misreading that was about the fact that I’m alone in this not the subject
There are many people starving around the world!
Cuba, Haiti, Sudan, North Korea, Central Africa, etc.
Why are you not concerned about those people?
Because the media is making show out of Gaza!
The media here is supporting Hamas and they are making their people starve for show.
I’ve taken this on board and apologized if OP is alarmist
Don’t start wars you can’t afford to lose. Badly.
See tagline.
You sound generally optimistic. Getting there is proving an ugly process.
I hope you’re right just want it done yesterday
This is a culture that uses its children as suicide bombers. Dying in any manner to advance the cause of Islam (in this case to drive Israelis out of the region) is considered an honorable death, one worthy of eternal reward.
Any attempt at aiding "innocent" victims will be used to cause even more Palestinian death and used to push for a permanent ceasefire before Israel has de-militarized Gaza and eliminated Hamas.
It is not our problem.
We did not start it.
We have nothing to do with how it is finished.
I’m not concerned about this war at all. War is war and it has to end when the time is appropriate. Hamas started something with the approval of the people in Gaza and now what they started needs to run its natural course. The side that is strongest wins and will dictate the end state. This is as it should be.
The people in Gaza elected Hamas. This is the price.
No sympathy. Let them die.
What the Romans did to Carthage. No two stones left touching. Fields salted to kill all plantings. Everyone removed (or else they starve) and sent elsewhere.
At very least, a one-mile killing field along border — mines and scorpions.
The only “innocents” are infants. Put them with orphanages so their parents can never find and corrupt.
You certainly love the liberal media and the lies they parrot from Hamas.
Hamas is the cause of any “humanitarian crisis” there. Defeat them and whatever “humanitarian crisis” they foment will start to abate; somewhat, given what the “Palestinians” favor to be done to Israelis.
Please face reality.
And all that talk of cease fires is nonsense: Hamas has rejected calls to release the hostages, for example.
And in a just world, the UN would insist that Hamas allow those behind the massacre of innocent Israelis be arrested and tried in the international court in the Hague, like those behind the Rwanda massacres.
I agree the whole population is not the main problem - but how do you get aid to them when Hamas controls everything that comes and goes without making concessions to the terrorists. What made the rest of the population move there?
Hamas takes the aid. Hamas dug up water pipes for rocket bodies. Israel and the world give them everything. It is a perpetual welfare state that teaches every child to hate and kill every Jew and American. It is hard to find sympathy for people who chose to live that way.
Ok, I’m only part way through this thread, but I don’t see how “turning off the news” still doesn’t leave more sources predicting famine in Gaza, than those who ignore, minimize, or deny the issue.
The history of such situations, when similar, indicates that brutal famines do occur. Even the poster who called you a gullible fool cannot deny this.
Point has been made that aid is getting through already. Clearly SOME is — there is more than plenty of video evidence. But, reliable numbers are hard to get, if we assume the UN are all untrustworthy. So, I would ask the Israelis for documentation, and a fair amount of their info. should be confirmable, or not, by video surveillance both from the ground and aerial. If they need another high altitude drone or two, I’m sure we can come up with something (after all, it would add to Israeli overall surveillance, so they should not complain.)
Then confirm the amount(s) of aid going in vs. the need(s).
If posters cannot back up their claims of enough food, etc., already getting in, then all we have to go on is history, and I already covered that. Famine IS the logical result of this situation.
How should we deal with that? The majority “Old Testament” crowd on FR has surely weighed in. I don’t put too much weight on those opinions because Christ gave us different instructions. However, Christ was also one to often ask biting questions, and of course we are left with many questions unanswered.
Will sending food aid in prolong the conflict? Probably.
Will Hamas steal much of the aid? Surely, without a very serious effort to prevent that, they will. But how on earth would such an effort be conducted, and by who? Surely the US is not an answer - that’d just plunge us into another interminable conflict (much more interminable than Ukraine if Ukraine was handled properly, instead of our [esp. Biden’s] current and consistent show of weakness.)
One must also realize Hamas WANTS dead and / or starved civilian casualties. Especially kids. The more the better. It adds to their propaganda war.
Will aiding the Gazan civilians result in deaths of US personnel? As it stands now, there is a pretty damn good chance, I’d say.
Will sending in humanitarian aid ensure Hamas’ survival? That is the biggest question of all, because such a result is almost surely a ticket to even greater conflict and death in the future. Or is that strife inevitable anyway?
