Automatic transmissions are increasingly the new norm in the modern world and manual transmissions are now seemingly being reserved for some SUVs, pickups, sports cars, and performance cars. It is rare to find an economy car or sedan that will boast one, and for some driving 'purists', it is a real bone of contention. But, this year, Volkswagen has answered the purist's call and released an economy compact sedan that boasts a good amount of power, torque, ample standard features, and comes with a manual transmission, the 2024 Volkswagen Jetta.
We have found the following important information we think you should know about the 2024 Volkswagen Jetta and what makes it the ideal economy car in today's market. We will discuss its specifications, the interior and exterior features that come as standard, its styling prowess, and maybe most importantly in a world of rising costs, it's very reasonable MSRP and reliability rating, making the VW Jetta, the most affordable manual sedan of 2024.

Stick shift = anti-theft device.
The yuts / didndus canโt drive them.
I haven’t driven a manual transmission since 2014. There are times I miss it.
Millennial Anti-theft device............
I have two ‘05 Jetta m/t TDI s/ws and two ~5 yr old Golf m/t AWD turbo gas s/ws.
A lifetime supply most likely.
FMCDH....
Well, most people don’t read the manual, but they still need it. ;)
Jettas were junk and still are.
The manual will probably be gone for the 2025 model year.
Shame to get old and stiff so that a stick is a burden. While today’s automatics are superior to sticks, I guarantee I paid better attention to driving in a stick compared to a lazy Lexus.
How so vis a vis any other vehicles?
My first new car was a 1977 VW Rabbit “Champagne Edition” that had a 1.6L inline 4cyl and a 4 spd manual with front wheel drive. That little guy was a hoot to drive. I lived in Alaska at the time and I got two speeding tickets in Anchorage in the first two months I owned it. With proper tires it was an awesome winter car as well.
Automatic transmissions suck, as do nearly all new vehicles now. Insanely overcomplicated technology in pursuit of miniscule improvements in efficiency and emissions.
They are literally putting ten times as much into adding junk as the junk will ever save.
Automotive technology peaked in the late 90s or early 00s.
Well, there was this that a lot of folks missed. I already have my last vehicle though. Zoom zoom!

Are there any stick Passats ?
I had a 2004 Jetta 1.8T. That thing was fun to drive.
Did have to replace the engine which I think was because the oil changes were never with the recommended synthetic oil.
Loved my stick
had hip problems and shoulder problems
Went to pt for months no relief
I asked whether it could be my stick.
They said no
traded for a jeep automatic Sahara
Pains gone in three weeks
I now realize that the PT people and the young doc HAD NO IDEA OF WHAT USING A STICK ENTAILS.
As of three months ago, Iโm driving an automatic for the first time in 35 years. It has taken all of the fun out driving.
“a 4.5-second sprint from zero to 60 mph “
Works for me.
[I was totally unaware for such an offering...]
My automatic 2014 Mustang, has a ‘sport shift’ function, where I can shift up and down with 2 buttons on the side of the shifter................
Have had manuals almost perpetually all my life, as is now with the GTS in my garage.
