Ukraine’s military has destroyed a Russian A-50 surveillance aircraft, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said on Friday.
“The A-50 with the call sign ‘Bayan’ has flown its last!” Oleshchuk wrote on the Telegram messaging app.

I agree that our Leftist Democrats are psychotic generally, and often as relates to matters of war & peace.
Nothing better illustrates their psychoses than their abandonments of Vietnam in 1975 and Afghanistan in 2021.
This was after Democrats had supported both wars in the beginning, but in time grew tired and willing to settle for a less than honorable peace.
Fundamentally, Democrats are not serious about war, have not been since the Second World War and every new generation grows more fickle & feckless.
Because of that, you can be certain our Democrats will abandon Ukraine in favor of Russia on the day they can figure out how to blame Republicans for Ukraine's loss.
I think that's the job of our pro-Russians on Free Republic.
Such are my opinions since Day One, February 24, 2022.
Fall of Saigon 1975; fall of Kabul 2021 = Democrats at war:
Democrats aren’t serious about war against communism.
Democrats are all about installing communism.

Hillary, the left? You are talking about the wrong Dem left, which is AOC, the Squad, and others, similar to not confusing Republican Conservatives with M Gaetz or MT Green.
These days, the US left is more concerned with Gaza than with Ukraine, and holding demonstrations for that cause. Part of the fallout for Johnson (who promises he returned the contribution from the pro Putin Russian) stopping the military support bill, is that Israeli funds are blocked. It will be a success for their efforts if Johnson returns and separates out the Ukraine funds from those for Israel and holds a separate vote which Ukraine funds would win.
The left still wants war, they don’t care where.
The left only dislikes war if it was against communism.
But wars to install communism, the left is all for that.
So much better if they can sucker Americans into doing the fighting and dying as that removes patriots from America to be replaced by outsiders.
Which was why the “path to citizenship via military service for illegal aliens” was such an eyebrow raiser.
Why is it that Russia/Putin people are so fixated on gender identity and sexuality issues as characterized by their term, Globohomo. For some, their fixation is even so distorted as to consider homosexual rape as a MANLY punishment. I wonder if Putin, as small man, was punished this way in his youth. It would explain his need to be all powerful, rich, and ruling. Also his display of naked chest to show off his masculinity. Relax, folks, so long as nobody is making you do these things against your will as an adult, not as a minor, stop worrying. Certainly offenses against minors and the vulnerable are rotten.
In the past week the public media have been providing a lot more Ukraine info once again as opposed to the Israel/Gaza activity. A lot relates to your list of: “Some of Ukraine’s advantages.”
1) Regarding motivation. One program focused on a triple amputee Ukraine soldier interviewed in the hospital. He said he was eager to return to his military duties, where despite his injuries he could “be a good instructor.” With his one arm he can certainly teach, even from a wheelchair.
2) Creative thinking and adaptation. Ukraine has certainly done wonders with development of drone warfare, including the Ukraine Drone Navy, the “strongest Navy in the Black Sea.” Ukraine is developing its own drone industry and will be a supplier to other European countries.
3) Care for Ukrainians and fighting corruption. Interesting long term following of a dedicated Ukraine doctor serving the military front lines. Various reports on fight against corruption. Explanation on delay of elections given how many millions are no longer living in their voting address, how Russians would target polling places, many losses of passports and other critical documents.
4) 50 nation Western Alliance. Currently EU and other European countries lack adequate military production capability, for the short term dependent on US provision of weapons, especially artillery. Ukraine after winning has capability to be a major producer as they were when part of Russia.
Interesting report that Ukraine has the largest supply of military grade scrap mental for production purposes. It is interesting to remember that Russia was trying very hard to capture the major Steel Plant where the Azov troops were holding out for months. This plant was one of the few buildings Russia was trying to NOT destroy. Also east Ukraine has both coal and iron underground resources, so the heck with the buildings on top.
5) Technological advantages. Reports on Ukraine’s superior production and creativity advantage in using available resources, including old weapons, and providing greater accuracy of given weapon resources.
7) $300 billion frozen in Western banks. Plans are already being made and business alliances being formed to speed the reconstruction and development of a modern European based economy and provision of military, consumer, and energy supplies to allies.
A bit of history, if you don’t mind. [Unclear which are your thoughts, and which are those of Darksheare which should have had quotes around them.]
Nothing better illustrates their (Democrat) psychoses than their abandonments of Vietnam in 1975...”???
Unfortunately history speaks against this interpretation. Richard Nixon became president in 1969. and Gerald Ford’s tenure as the 38th president of the United States began in August 1974, upon the resignation of president Richard Nixon, and ended on January 20, 1977. Ford, a Republican from Michigan, had been appointed vice president since December 1973, when VP Spiro Agnew resigned from that office. So, Republicans in office from early 1969 to early 1977, during which Saigon fell in 1975.
They refused to actually prosecute the Vietnam war as an actual war, they pursued it as a “policing action”.
Recall constantly “taking” hills just to give them back because they were “sending messages” that way.
Two things that are important in war.
One, don’t do pointless wars and two, don’t half ass it when you do go to war.
Our leadership either ignores or refuses to consider those points.
I swear they’re purposely weakening our country.
Korean war, MacArthur wanted to do actual war.
He was fired for it.
Unfortunately, MacArthur wanted to pursue war across the Yalu River, with consequent nuclear danger. My late husband suffered from Korean War PTSD. He was one of many who faced the 300,000 troop Chinese “meat waves”. He had guilt about killing a Chinese teen soldier in hand to hand combat. He would never tell me about the 2 inch straight line scar on his knee. It really surfaced when our dark haired, dark eyed son was about 13 or 14.
My maternal grandfather rarely spoke about his experiences during WWII.
When he did it alternated between flippant humor or icy seriousness.
Flippant humor: “I had a knife like that once” (referring to my personal knife I had during my enlistment)
Asked what happened to it.
“Oh, I gave it to a German.”
Never heard of grandpa being friends with any Germans despite being, well, German so we asked what he said.
“He said ‘aaaaaaugh’ and died.”
Icy seriousness, same tale, he talked about being on observation point duty in front of the rest of the squad.
It’s dark, he’s in a shell hole.
He hears someone in front of him whispering in English “Joe? Is that you? Joe?”
He knew or at least thought he knew nobody friendly was “that way” so he waited quietly in the dark.
The guy jumps into the shellhole with him and he clamped a hand over his mouth and stabbed him hoping it wasn’t some stupid fellow soldier who got lost in the dark because apparently that had happened and was a possibility.
So Grandpa then sat there next to this dude all night until it gets light enough for him to see it was a German.
In his rare moments, usually after drinking, he’d talk about the 14 year old Hitler youth he had to shoot because the kid pulled a luger on he and his squad.
He’d kept the Luger for awhile after, never said why.
It probably didn’t make sense why even to him.
My husband told a lot of funny stories, but never talked about the bad stuff. My son has just retired from more than 25 years in Army service, mostly Special Forces—Gulf War 1, 2 8 month fighting seasons in Afghanistan. He has never told me anything about his experiences. However when I asked about his retirement income, a while ago, he said he first had to have disabilities and injuries during service assessed for final retirement income purposes. He has offered no details about this evaluation or need for it. He seems physically normal, alert, and active, but I think he has some anxiety PTSD which results in him nagging me about what I should be doing with my property, which he and brother will inherit when I die, not something I plan to have happen any time soon. Tune for bed, good night.
Goodnight.
I admit that I never deployed.
I was supposed to, but my captain decided to put me in rear detachment instead.
Considering what happened with our first sergeant over there, probably a good thing I didn’t go.
You really have to screw up badly to get fired as a first sergeant from a warzone.
Good luck to your son, the VA on the whole is.... Less than adequate in their actions towards soldiers.
Some offices are decent, those are rare.
Then you get into the whole PTSD evaluation, the military lying to your face that seeking help won’t have adverse effects on your career or post separation benefits yet in practice it absolutely does.
There are a few "actual nazis" pretty much everywhere, including Russia and the USA, so again, I ask you seriously, why do these particular people drive you so nuts with anxiety and anger?
And why, exactly, do you talk about a "ukezone"?
Are you seriously a Russian nationalist here to sell us on the beauties of "Russkiy Mir"??
Do you want us to buy into the idea that "Russkiy Mir" is something other than insane fantasies of a modern-day Rasputin -- "Putin's brain", Alexander Dugin?
Seriously?
And don't you dare cut your reply short!
Russia will go to war with NATO if troops are deployed to Ukraine, says the Kremlin pic.twitter.com/ajAXaMGgjb— Rev Laskaris (@REVMAXXING) February 27, 2024
By definitions:
What people?
you Neocons.
Naw...not really... our Democrats don't care who defeats us, they just enjoy seeing Americans humiliated, one way or another.
It's not specifically communists Democrats care about, they only want to be sure Americans (especially conservative white American men) feel defeated and humiliated, they don't really care by whom.
That's why, for examples, we saw the same results from Democrats after 20 years in Afghanistan as we saw after 20 years in Vietnam:
Fall of Saigon 1975; fall of Kabul 2021 = Democrats at war:
Meanwhile, three more US Patriot systems confirmed destroyed, making a total of four batteries…..pretty expensive, but hey, the US taxpayers are funding this misadventure….and throw in another two M1 Abram’s that decided to come out and play with Ivan…..
