A Tennessee elementary school principal had tears streaming down her face as she was booked for allegedly covering up a student-teacher assault at her school.
Fabre Ford, the principal of Southwest Elementary School in Fayette County, Tennessee, was arrested after allegedly withholding information about a fourth-grade student attacking a teacher with a Stanley Cup.
According to deputies, fifth-grade social studies teacher Demetrious Bradley was left concussed after the child battered him with the large metal cup.
After Ford allegedly blocked an internal school investigation into the attack and told people not to cooperate, she was arrested and charged with tampering with or fabricating evidence in the investigation of an aggravated assault in a school. The incident unfolded on February 2, when the fourth grader was removed from his class and sent to Bradley's class because he had been 'acting out.'
When Bradley went to talk to the young student, he later told a school resource officer, Randy Collins, that the child started slapping his hands.
The student then picked up a heavy metal Stanley Cup and started beating Bradley across the face with it, striking him multiple times on the jaw.
Collins wrote in a primary report on the incident that Bradley said the Stanley Cup also caught him across the temple, which left him 'seeing stars.'
He then wrapped his arms around the student to keep him from being struck again, but slipped on water spilled from the cup and the student ran off.

Such a vibrant culture!
covering up to reduce crime rates at schools is common.
Remember Trayvon Martin is dead today because they avoided charging him for multiple crimes at his high school. They let him believe he could get away with any crime without consequences.
> Is a principal covering up an assault at a school a singular, one-off thing or is it part of an extensive pattern of behavior… <
I’m a retired public high school teacher. I taught in a big city. And I’m not a bit surprised by the principal’s behavior. Most public schools are all about image now. Can’t have any bad news leak out. Student and staff safety is no longer a priority.
We were told to call the school police should there be an incident. Calling the city police (911) was a firing offense. Why that policy? Central administration can bury school police reports. They can’t bury city police reports.
I’ll make a rough estimate, and say that only 10% of the violent incidents in my school district made it to the evening news.
At Southwest Elementary [School], 17% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 22% scored at or above that level for reading.
The school’s minority student enrollment is 59%. The student-teacher ratio is 15:1, which is the same as that of the district.
It’s a $45 “trendy” insulated cup, sorta a “must have”, like an iPhone, ear buds, or a Taylor Swift tune.
That’s right.
The perpetrator was probably a grandson of Obeyme.
Yes, sadly.

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Oh, gee, was there a problem with me defending myself from a student who was swinging a stainless steel tumbler filled with water at my face? I’m so sorry, I was not aware that I was supposed to allow myself to be beaten about the head and shoulders. I wasn’t aware that clause was in the employment contract for teachers but apparently, many think it is.
Contrary to what the left thinks, it’s not about an adult hitting a child. It’s about adults being forced to allow repeated violent actions to be committed against them by undisciplined, possible mentally disturbed or just criminal, kids. Self-defense is always on the table, or it should be.
And just what does quashing an investigation get the principal? It sure doesn’t inspire good behavior by other students. “Your kids may leave this school unable to read and function in society but they will understand that Snitches get Stitches.”
Peach
First thing I thought of, too.
“But that cup is bigger than he is!” 😆
Maybe they meant “Year 4”? They have “years” in British schools - not grades.
Pistol-whipped with a sippy cup....
Ohhhh - that makes a lot more sense…
I was thinking hockey trophy too!
You must be Clue less.
It was. in the library with a wrench!
🙃
It’s a fourth grader not a four year old
The teacher-victim could, and should, have gone directly to the police, without getting the principal’s permission.
The teacher-victim could and also should sue the school district for implementing policies that allowed for a dangerous workplace.
