At the World Government Summit, Tucker Carlson told a gathering of world leaders that Moscow “was so much nicer than any city” in the United States. “It’s radicalizing for an American to go to Moscow,” Tucker went on. “I didn’t know that. I’ve learned it this week, to Singapore, to Tokyo, to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, because these cities, no matter how we’re told they’re run and on what principles they’re run, are wonderful places to live

If you’re wealthy, I imagine, Moscow is pretty great. This is true of most European cities. When you’re an American tourist, you tend to stay in clean and beautiful city centers, eat at the best spots, and wander around the most attractive areas of town. In Europe, you get to see onion domes that were built by serfs dotting the skyline. I’m sure it’s neat.
It is also true that if you’re an average person, Moscow is awful. The average Muscovite is most likely to live in some grim outlying apartment complex, many of which were built during the Soviet era. That’s if they’re lucky. Many Russians live in Novosibirsk, Ekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, and Ufa. Russia’s per capita yearly GDP is around $13,000. In the United States, it is around $83,000. It’s around $46,000 in Mississippi, our poorest state. Most Russians are living in what most Americans would consider poverty.
Not everything is about money, of course. Religious commitment? Around 50-65 percent of Americans claimed religion was important to them (depending on the poll). In Russia, it’s at 16-34 percent. The Russian divorce rate is at 74 percent, the highest in the world.
-snip-
But that doesn’t change the fact that 20 percent of Russian households don’t have indoor plumbing. Or that a third of Russian hospitals don’t have running water.

No he’s not. There are lots of cities around the world that do not have the crime, graffiti, trash, drug addled bums and human excrement in public places that currently afflicts many big cities in America.
I know. I’ve seen several of them. Moscow is one of those cities. That’s not to say there aren’t poor areas. Of course there are - everywhere. But there isn’t the complete breakdown of civilization that you see in places like NYC, San Fransicko, LA, etc etc.
> The average Muscovite is most likely to live in some grim outlying apartment complex
In my experience: the statement is true. The buildings are awful, all the way to the door of the individual apartment. Inside the apartment, it is a different world. People dress these up richly, with fine wood cabinets, carpets, wall hangings and more.
Just a detail.
Did you watch the interview or just stumble on a soundbite?
Imagine comparing our capital, D.C., with Moscow for cleanliness, safety etc.?
He mentioned being able to ride subways safely … so where’s that in America ? New York, Chicago, San Fran …. His comment wasn’t for Every town in the USA
Yeah I’m offended by his comment but not because he’s the messenger but because it’s true. Same for Paris, London etc
The base of his comments were that while America is the most powerful country on earth we can’t even enforce our own borders or the lawlessness in our cities. Other countries, some we’re even trying to boss around don’t have this problem…. Pathetic
His points were not only spot on but embarrassing. He’s scorned in our country for talking about issues that need discussion when our own intel agencies, MSM (including FOX) and even here on FR try to shut him down.
That’s my place of birth. How dare anyone criticize muh freedoms…
Did people read “The Twitter Files?”
Now FR is not of the scale/size/importance of Twitter, but it was revealed that the US Deep State/FBI and their billionaire cronies organize and fund propaganda / gas-lighting operations for all social media. Whether bots or human, we can assume their agents are here also
Marcusmaximus postings and style bears all the hallmarks of such an operative.
Tucker may be right.
The author assumes Tucker is making some grander political point, since that’s the only context these Ukraine simps can see the world.
“some populists are already starting to sound indistinguishable from the average progressive leftist”
The weakness and self loathing is palpable. They will never Make America Great Again.
I'm all for war if the US congress declares it.
If they don't, it's an illegal war.
What say you?
Do you believe in the rule of law?
Or do you believe in name-calling and bullying and calling it the rule of law?
“America is the most beautiful and the greatest country in the world, warts and all.”
Sad that these days this is considered a radical comment around here.
DC is more blacks than whites. It’s a violent toilet.
Every single place on Earth that blacks live in number is a violent toilet.
Haiti would be an absolute paradise if it was white instead of black.
Everyone knows it.
Most most of the midtown subway stations looks post-apocalyptic. I was there in 2021, and several of the stations looked like something from a post-apocalyptic horror movie.
You literally step over homeless people in sleeping bags to go through the turnstiles.
“As I always remind my big brave neocon acquaintances, there are planes to Kiev.”
There are also planes to Belgorod. You should get on one of them.
“America is the most beautiful and the greatest country in the world, warts and all.”
Sad that these days this is considered a radical comment around here.”
It is not a radical comment—it is a debatable comment.
America used to be the center of world civilization and greatness.
Times change. We would be fools to pretend they do not.
Let the debate continue....
But—those who want to compare American cities to Moscow would do well to spend a lot of time visiting American cities today.
Ozzie and Harriet do not live there anymore.
Tucker is right, JEEZE, our country is being invaded and WE have to speak a different language to live here, our freedom of speech has been obliterated, our right to bare arms is teetering on a thread they are making it damn near impossible to manufacture firearms OR be a dealer, our justice system is weaponized no longer fair or just, WE NOW HAVE political prisoners rotting away in a DC gulag having been SET UP by the 3 letter agencies!! Our streets are a mess our once beautiful THRIVING cities are ghost towns due to homelessness, crime, drugs!! Tell me again how much better off we are than Russia!! Tucker tells TRUTH and people here TRASH HIM!!!
+1
Why, thank you kindly for posting. Nice to see so much reality amidst the smoke and mirrors.
The problem with your post is that the person that you were responding to likely does not understand the meanings of the words “faux”, “dichotomy” or “fallacy” either individually or in a group. My suggestion would be... when responding to those who have been heavily influenced by propaganda from the Biden administration , you might try limiting your words to those that the typical eight or nine year old would understand.
DC is way overdue for a double portion cleansing because of its lawlessness and just us one finds with a combo of rich men north of richmond coupled with a death culture in certain demographics that have lots of poverty and very little moral compass..
I suspect Moscow has rich men north of Richmond there and poverty there..
Poverty isn’t a sin.
Moral poverty is..
And DC is full of it.. rich and poor alike
These are the same dopes who constantly reminisce about the Reagan presidency while believing we’re still in the middle of the Cold War.
