Tucker Carlson’s fulsome praise of Russia’s capital city is so far off the mark, it’s embarrassing.
Moscow,” Tucker Carlson announced this week, from his populist redoubt at the World Government Summit in Dubai, “is so much nicer than any city in my country. I had no idea. It is so much cleaner, and safer and prettier, aesthetically. Its architecture, food, and services than in any city in the United States. And this is not ideological. How did that happen?”
The simplest answer to this inquiry is that it didn’t.
I daresay that Carlson did, indeed, have a nice time when he visited Moscow. As a rich foreign tourist who was being carefully minded by the Russian government, he was undoubtedly exposed to the Moscow that its champions wanted him to see. And that city, I’ll wager, is pretty swell. But still. Better than every city in the United States? The idea is ridiculous. I have been to Moscow. I have also been to most of the major cities in America. There is no sense in which Moscow could be placed at the top of the list. There is a small part of the place that is rather pretty, and, thanks largely to the mafia, a few good restaurants have popped up, but the rest of it remains as bleak and moribund and soulless as it was during the Soviet era. It is a museum, and an ugly one at that.

How’s the weather in Kiev today?
Boise to a large degree, and SLC especially, are Mormon cities. They are hardly typical of urban America.
“He’s a Brit, National Review, atheist, and lives in Florida. I am sensing a gated community also.”
DesertRhino is talking about Charles C W Cooke.
What’s your explanation for why Oswald murdered Officer Tippit? That was across town and 45 minutes after Kennedy was shot.
The Cuba theory may have some merit. Oswald belonged to the “Fair Play for Cuba Committee” after the USSR turned out not to be what he was hoping for and he had returned stateside. He attempted to visit the Cuban Embassy in Mexico City at some point.
“The KGB was likely aware of it.”
Maybe not. Our greatest spy asset of the Cold War, Morris Childs, was in Moscow, in the Kremlin, hanging out with Soviet Union’s highest officials when Kennedy was shot. They were just as shocked as we were and were running through every scenario that they could think of as to could have killed him. The Soviets had a sort of grudging admiration for Kennedy. Morris Childs story is amazing, he was the money courier for the CPUSA and the Soviets never suspected him.
Unfortunately William F Buckley is the one who chose to turn over his magazine to the poseurs who wrecked it.
The actual brains behind NR in its prime was probably his sister Priscilla. She became its managing editor in 1959 did that until some time in the 1980s. I dropped my subscription around 1990 when I thought it had become less of a conservative journal and more of a GOP establishment mouthpiece.
They would be closer to what American demographics were 70 years ago. The Poles and Hungarians had enough sense to keep the “Syrian migrants” out of their countries. We lack sense, just like the rest of Europe.
Yeah, I just find it hard to believe that one of the ‘junior services’ would take on such as task in complete secrecy from the ‘master’. However, Castro & brother were vindictive SOBs and the had the motivation.
What is pitiful is elected officials allowing this.
Moscow is bette, unless you want to be free to speak your mind.
All democrat controlled big cities in the USA are literal shit holes
Cooke gets on my nerves too
Protocon South blamer
But I listen to him
I prefer Dougie Murray Brit pundit
“However, Castro & brother were vindictive SOBs and the had the motivation.”
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Castro was urging Moscow to launch. The Soviets weren’t at all eager to start WWIII to please Castro. They could use the missiles as a negotiating tool to get concessions out of us and they did. I can imagine the Castro brothers carrying their hotheaded attitude over to a plot to murder JFK without asking Moscow’s permission.
Fully concur. Similar reasons.
Try carrying a “white lives matter” placard down the main street of any American city—and watch what happens to you next.
Lol.

Dougie is a bit too queer for my taste and accent ain’t helping.
He’s quite brave in Britain
His foes will kill
He keeps his queerness pretty down low like it used to be
He says one critical thing on this hood short interview
Just seek the truth, it transcends ideology
Even as an unapologetic southern traditionalist I still that is a decent creed even if said truth defies your political sensibilities
