A cougar attacked a man at a ski resort Sunday outside of Beaver Mountain, Utah, but he was able to fight it off with a snowboard.
Charlie Duffy was walking outside of resort boundaries with his snowboard when he noticed big cat paw prints in the snow, KSL reported. Moments later, unnerved by the paw prints, he looked over his shoulder to see the mountain lion five or six feet away from him. The cat then pounced

“My fight response instantly kicked in and I grabbed my board in my right hand and swung with full force at the jumping mountain lion,” Duffy said in an Instagram post. “It barely grazed my neck with its claws and got knocked to the ground. The mountain lion proceeded to get back up and come back at me.”

Photos posted on Instagram show Duffy’s torn jacket where the cougar attacked him. After posting on Instagram, snowboard brands Nitro and 686 pledged to send him some new gear.
I find just telling them I'm divorced, and broke, works to keep them away.
perhaps- the material might be such that it rips in a clean line- some material does that- but yeah- i think the slices looked too clean- you woudl likely see more ragged thread- the one slice looked like just that- a knife slice-
LOL-
That’s exactly how I identify animal tracks in the wild - look to see what sort of animal is standing in them.
That one of the rare Razor Clawed Utah Cougars dontchya know.
I was attacked by a wild cougar once. It was in a locals casino here in Vegas. It had blue hair and looked starved. The casino didn’t offer any help though.
Next time ask to speak to Ace Rothstein. He doesn’t like any trouble, and will put an end to it quickly.
Best laugh for this morning.
An impending attack by a large dog caused me to ready my large pipe wrench as a weapon. While not a mountain lion, a ferocious dog can do damage.
My mind became completely focused, time seemed to stand still, I knew I would only get one shot at this, so I readied myself for the perfect swing that would KILL the dog (and I am a dog lover), not scare him away.
At the last second, the dog owner saw what was about to happen and called/whistled (I can’t remember which) and the dog stopped dead in his tracks and ran home.
Again, not a mountain lion, but I can understand EXACTLY the mental process he went through.
Sort of like that guy protecting his dog by punching the kangaroo. It didn’t see THAT coming.
Was it an Assault Snowboard?
Quick reaction times saved this guy’s life. He’s tough and probably a good athlete.
Very dangerous ski environment.......last Cougar I ran into it was all downhill mogul hump work.
The Beaver Mtn. Ski Chalet coming to a strip mall near you. Bring your “snowboard”.
No but the sake board swung at Kyle Rittenhouse house was.
The snow boarder would not have had time to pull a gun. He must have had his board in his hands when the cat pounced. I wonder if the snow boarder was a baseball player.
ISWYDT! LOL!
Mountain lion attack bookmark.
You usually don’t see cougars at ski resorts, they tend to hang around bars.
