Putin Trolls Tucker Carlson Over CIA Rejection
Newsweek ^ | 2/9/2024 | James Bickerton

Vladimir Putin joked about Tucker Carlson being rejected by the CIA after he finished college during his interview with the conservative polemist—his first with a western journalist since ordering the full invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The interview was released on Carlson's website and X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday and covered Russian history, the war in Ukraine, NATO, imprisoned American journalist Evan Gershkovich and his relationships with Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

During the conversation Putin discussed the 2014 Ukrainian Maidan revolution, which led to the ousting of then pro-Moscow Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, which he claimed took place "with the backing of the CIA of course."

Addressing Carlson, Russia's president added: "The organization you wanted to join back in the day as I understand. We should thank God they didn't let you in. Although it is a serious organization I understand."

According to a 2017 profile of Carlson by The New Yorker, he tried to join the CIA after leaving Trinity College in Connecticut but was turned down as "the real-life agency, unlike its fictional counterparts, prefers not to hire young men who are gabby and insubordinate."

What's wrong with dancing cats? I myself prefer cat juggling, but that's just me. Carry on.

Dancing cat videos get more views than that.

Dancing cat videos get more views than practically anything. You just gave Tucker extremely high praise without meaning to.

Not bad for a survivor of three fatal bouts with cancer, four liver failures and two assassinations.

Well, the russian Deep State (KGB/FSB) have deep means to make their own people live long. Or to live short lives (flying out of windows) if they so decide.

On a side note:
So what I understand Tucker’s demand to join the CIA was rejected? Interesting.
Putin though was full heartedly welcomed to the KGB...
Every fiber of Putin’s body has been fine-polished and fine-tuned by the KGB.

Now, I hope Tucker wasn’t recruited by the KGB, but I don’t think so.

I'm quite sure that Tucker is glad he didn't sell his soul to join the CIA given that he's exposed its corruption for several years now.

This interview was the pinnacle of Tucker's illustrious career. It makes him the most prominent journalist in the nation, if not in the world.

Only propagandists like you covering up the evils of the Biden regime and Deep State had a problem with this interview.

Tucker is patriot, a man dedicated, like Trump, to cleaning up the massive corruption within our own government.

Russian Telegram channels reported that the interview with Carlson and Carlson himself was not to Putin’s liking, and the interview itself was considered a failure:

“The Kovalchuk clan sharply criticizes the idea of an interview with the American journalist Carlson. They say that the problem is the unpreparedness of the interview arrangement - it was Gromov’s and Peskov’s mistake. Putin should have talked about conservative values, the creation of a conservative alliance, and moving on - but he went into history and platitudes about Ukraine. Naryshkin, who allegedly planted ideas with documents of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi and nonsense with Poland, also played a negative role here. He set Putin up to the fullest. Medinsky would not allow such a thing.”

According to reports, Putin didn’t like Tucker Carlson - “a snob and a useful idiot who got a meaningful fee, but was lazy and lacked creativity.”
Kovalchuk family believes they could have done better with Tucker Carlson, but “everything was wasted.” There’s a wave of complaints in the Kremlin.

Oh, the interview was very much to Tucker's liking given that it may end up being viewed more than 200 million times worldwide on X and other platforms.

Yes, Putin going into a 1000 year history of the region did bore me and frustrate Tucker. It was distraction from the points he made about how corrupt our dealings have been with Russia and how tyrannical our actions have been in Ukraine.

We've gone to wanting to free the world from communism and tyranny under Kennedy and Reagan to setting off civil wars and destabilizing nation just so the elite can make $$$.

It's sad what we've become and it essentially we get back to an American first foreign policy and one that is run by ethnical and moral leaders.

"Tucker’s demand to join the CIA."
I doubt if Tucker demanded to join the CIA.
When I was in an undergraduate class at University, there was a married woman in the class who invited me to dinner. Her husband was in the CIA probably recruiting at the school. He asked me if I would be interested in joining when I got my degree. I said I wanted to go to graduate school so didn't follow up on it.

"Poland started World War 2? Or was “Putin” just kidding?"

I don't know what Putin meant, but there were violent clashes (riots) between Poles and Germans in Danzig (then a German city, now Gdańsk) prior to the German/Soviet invasion.

The Brits and French blamed the Poles for Stalin agreeing to sign the Non-Agression Pact with Hitler.

Russia didn’t go with Britain and France, because they basically demanded half of Poland to do so, and the Poles rejected it.

It was personal for Stalin, since he was pretty much responsible for the Red Army’s defeat to Poland in 1920.

BS, that was pure Nazi propaganda.

I might also add that I was amused that Putin’s translator referred to Kaliningrad, now a part of Russia, with it’s original Prussian German name, Königsberg.
