"The View" host Sunny Hostin was shocked to discover her family's hidden history in a new episode of the PBS documentary show, "Finding Your Roots."
The documentary show researches prominent figures' family histories through historical records and DNA testing. On the February 6 episode, show host Henry Louis Gates Jr. revealed one of Hostin's ancestors on her maternal side was likely involved in the slave trade in colonial Spain.
Her third great-grandfather also "owned at least one human being," he said.

The Nazis had something called “Sippenhaft”, meaning family liability. So if you took a potshot at Hitler, your family was criminally punished along with you. It didn’t matter whether or not your family was actually involved.
Modern liberals just love to adopt fascist practices. So I wonder if they’ll adopt Sippenhaft to the descendants of slave owners. If so, be sure to pick a new name, guys.
Maybe call it “reparations”. Oops, sorry. That term is already used. They’ll have to think of something else.
I can’t wait ‘till the brainiac race baiters here finally realize the city’s revolution era namesake owned as many as 300 slaves in his lifetime......AND paid bounty hunters extra if they whipped the escaped slaves before returning them.
Changing the name of a whole city is gonna be expensive. 😁
Why?
Sunny Hostin does not come with clean hands....
How dare she criticize others. The sin does not wash away. Nor should the shame.
It’s something for nothing!
I’m not for anyone having to pay for something ones ancestors did long ago.
Nothing will change that.
Let’s deal with what the oppressed have today. How much lower can we go in lowering to learning abilities. Lower standards make even more lower standards.
Pony up biotch!
If they can’t stop talking about past slave ownership they should start talking about who the folks were who sold people into slavery in the first place.
She might want to show penance by giving all assets away to BLM.
Hostin. The dumbest broad on TV. And I mean every station available on TV. She is a real meathead.
My great, great grandmother was an indentured servant from Ireland. Crap! That means I’ve got some “reparations” coming. Yee Haw.
Crime Boss Joey’s fourth great grandfather owned Black human beings too. Is the family ashamed of this? Hell know. Joey’s middle name is Robinette just like his slave holding great grandfather.

Under Stalin they were arrested as families of enemies of the people. The wives and children of his Party opponents became his hostages to make them confess, then were consigned to the Gulag anyway.
Molotov's wife was in prison for years.
True, he kept his own supporters in line the same way.
will this be affecting her reparations check?
I’m a 3rd-generation US citizen of Italian/Austrian descent who is from a long line of poor people, including a grandfather who was a coal miner.
Where are my gimmes? We didn’t own any slaves but my grandfather was trafficked from Turino to Ellis Island to Chicago and then to Bearcreek, MT to work the mines.
I guess she’ll have to be cancelled now. It’s only fair.
That's because she doesn't like the possibility that her slave ancestor was a house slave. There's a nasty name associated with that and it's a pejorative in black culture.
I really wish people would stop focusing on the wrong period of slavery. It would be much more constructive to be outraged over the slavery we're under today than the slavery that ended 159 years ago.
