Walkers enjoying a quiet stroll in the Welsh countryside captured a shocking sight on Sunday, after a wind turbine burst into flames before exploding.
Nick Blasdale, 61, and his wife Alison, 59, were left stunned when they saw burning parts of a turbine fall more than 100ft to the ground.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at Blaen Bowi Wind Farm near Newcastle Emlyn, Pembrokeshire at 11.46am, but could only watch and make sure passersby didn't get too close.
Alison said: 'We watched the top section burst into flames then drop off whilst still burning then explode when it hit the ground.'

Wind turbines cost more energy than they produce. They’re a white liberal ‘elite’ scam.
But they are better than the solar cells!
And probably spewing oil and other chemicals over five acres of now useless fields
If that’s the only one there it’s quiet now and the birds are safe
The operation of windmills also create more pollution due to the gas turbines being idled to produce power when the wind dies.
No wonder today’s movies showing beautiful country side are CGIs Too many wind turbines in the natural scene.
Wind mills nave looked like that the Dutch wink.
Between Aberfan and this, the Welsh can’t get a break.
Fifteen, twenty years ago my local liberal newspaper decided to ‘do their part’ and put a windmill up at one of their regional offices - done to much fanfare and pride.
Six months later - after repairs and adjustments - the experiment ended quietly with not a mention in the paper. A friend who wrote for the paper asked me how much money I thought they were saving a month with their ‘free energy’.
I don’t remember my exact guess but it was many of dollars less than I actually thought based on the fact the question was being asked and the way it was asked. I low balled my guess and was way off. The truth was less - much less - less than a dollar a month. A few cents. And yeah because the paper owned their own presses they had people who could calculate the ‘savings’. The green windmill was quietly taken down with no public notice.
