I was watching a Best of Carson last night, from that exact moment in time, Robin Williams and Johnny shooting the shit imagining Perot-as-President and neither particularly disturbed at the thought of it, with Perot at his peak in polling.
By the third debate, with Perot surging in polls and frankly in line to win the damn thing, he trotted out the "ninjas on his lawn" hilarious paranoid bs :

Then as addendum realized he had, as intended, cratered his own chances, but had neglected to blame Poppy Boosh for the ninjas. No matter, the breakaways marginally went to Bubba and the permanent damage to the Republic was done.
