Welcome to The Bicycle Thread. A monthly PING List for bicycle enthusiasts to share experiences, information and ideas. 🚴♂️👍
Buy a battery and a motor....
Get some scuba and underwater welding gear and go fix BiXiden’s pipeline follies.
Some really nice stock racing photos (they go on forever) from all countries. You can buy them framed or unframed:

If you just have to indulge your perverted sick need to malign those who train for and practice a legitimate traditional sport, by posting pics of the dregs of society who delight in tearing down every vestige of normalcy wherever they can find it in Western culture, there’s plenty of websites out there that’d more than welcome your adolescent vomitus. Just get the hell off FR. We don’t need it here.
2023 was the first year in my city where it was easy to ride your bicycle year round. Usually we have periods of -40 and icy conditions, but not this year.
So, in your view homosexuals cannot enjoy bicycling? A picture of them enjoying a nice, peaceful ride on their bikes sends you over the edge? Can homosexuals on bicycles not be seen as bicycle enthusiasts? Or have you appointed yourself as the final word on who can or cannot be considered legitimate bicyclists?
However, in an effort to make peace with you and to help you get your insane rage in check I rescind the first pic and instead post a historical one of Berliners practicing for the Tour de France in 1942 in its place.
Laughter is good!
So as an entry into the "bicycle" event....
"During a speech that launched the first official Chinese language website promoting the capital, Boris Johnson asked the crowd in jest whether Chinese students are attracted to the city because of its “beautiful communist bicycles”, weather and its French restaurants."It's our 'beautiful communist bicycles' that attract Chinese students to London, says Boris Johnson Independent UK, 14 October 2013
What would the gov. do if bike riding (and esp. a consensual Christian practice such the Lord's Supper) resulted in stats as these:
God made man and women distinctively different yet uniquely compatible and complementary, and only joined them together in marriage - as the Lord Jesus Himself specified (Mt. 19:4–6) - and Scripture only condemns homosexual relations wherever they are manifestly dealt with.
And homosexual relations have been tragically primarily responsible for approx. 80% of new HIV cases among men and over 700,000 American deaths, though such is not even the decisive reason why homosexual relations are wrong.
Yet there is still room at the cross for all who will come to God in repentance and faith, and trust in the Divine Son of God sent by the Father, the risen Lord Jesus, to save them on His account, by His sinless shed blood, and thus be baptized and live for Him. Acts 10:36-47
I just purchased an Evelo Omega, which is a very interesting e-bike. It has a torque sensing powerful mid-drive motor with a carbon fiber belt drive and a continuously variable automatic-shifting transmission, and dual batteries with a 100 mile range. You set your desired cadence through a cell phone app or a controller on the handlebar and off you go: the bike does everything else. The torque sensor and the mid-drive makes for a very light and natural pedaling sensation. It’s like always having a wind at your back. Although it has five levels of pedal assistance, I rarely go above level three which smoothly gets me to eighteen miles per hour. The CVT and automatic shifting is weird at first, but I quickly grew to love it. I recall going up a sharp twenty-five degree bank with a minimal effort and no clunky shifting. All in all it, is sort of like gliding along and is throughly enjoyable.

"...While the 2018 physical activity guidelines recommend that adults engage in at least 150 to 300 minutes per week of moderate exercise, 75 to 150 minutes each week of vigorous movement or an equivalent combination of both intensities, it turns out that if adults do more than the recommended amount, it can lower their risk of death..."
"...Those who worked out two to four times above the moderate physical activity recommendations—about 300 to 599 minutes each week—saw the most benefit..."
"...“It is well documented that light to moderate regular physical activity prevents” cardiovascular disease, says the study. “But previous studies also showed evidence that long-term high-intensity endurance exercise (e.g., marathons, triathlons, long-distance bicycle races) may cause adverse events such as myocardial fibrosis, coronary artery calcification and atrial fibrillation as well as sudden cardiac death.”
Yet this study suggests there is no harmful effect of high, long-term vigorous physical activity on cardiovascular health. But more studies are needed...."
The message is clear. Motorists will kill you if you give them the opportunity, and intersections are a target-rich environment. And the law doesn't protect you from them, so you've got to look out for Number One. The surest way to keep your skin off the tarmac is to take the cager's shitty judgement (and absolute lack of respect for cyclists) out of the loop.
Done and done. I mostly ride a mt. bike off-road, and don't ride my road bike in highly trafficked areas, and never with those big groups of lycra clad butt sniffers.
I have no respect for the latter folk, holding up lines of cars they way they do.
If you just have to...4Runner posted "If" so he is not really raging. Congrats on your coming-out and your new sports hobby...
