I just purchased an Evelo Omega, which is a very interesting e-bike. It has a torque sensing powerful mid-drive motor with a carbon fiber belt drive and a continuously variable automatic-shifting transmission, and dual batteries with a 100 mile range. You set your desired cadence through a cell phone app or a controller on the handlebar and off you go: the bike does everything else. The torque sensor and the mid-drive makes for a very light and natural pedaling sensation. Itβs like always having a wind at your back. Although it has five levels of pedal assistance, I rarely go above level three which smoothly gets me to eighteen miles per hour. The CVT and automatic shifting is weird at first, but I quickly grew to love it. I recall going up a sharp twenty-five degree bank with a minimal effort and no clunky shifting. All in all it, is sort of like gliding along and is throughly enjoyable.
