I want one (Fury) but could afford the ammunition for it, and the average Joe cant reload its complex case.

The energy differential is pretty impressive though. Its made to cut through todays body armor.

Yes it is, but what a capability cutting through body armor gives.

The Dems will label it a ‘cop-killer-bullet’ and ban civilians from owning it. Just watch..............

That’s why I thought it strange the article talked about defense “in your home”...which might also include your neighbor’s home, and maybe even their neighbor’s home.

Biden already wants Lake City to stop supplying ammunition to the public.

I can easily see federal contracts that restrict manufacturers from selling the ammunition commercially.

This means only smaller producers will be capable of gearing up and supplying the public....and prices will be high.

So, I guess they don’t like the .308 anymore. The .308 replaced the venerable .30-06; so now the 6.8mm is replacing the .308.

Well that sucks hopefully the Civil War 2 starts before they can deploy it as I fully intend to take 5.56 ammo from the Miliary.

I have no clue why we are so stuck on straight side casings in this country.

Aren’t some of the 5.7 x 28 mm rounds still banned from public ownership? I believe that’s because it’s largely a handgun round.

Are cops wearing the latest in battlefield armor? I remember Ted Kennedy *spit* trying to get anything that would defeat soft armor classified as “armor piercing ammo.”

I see ‘227 Fury’ in the first chart.

Is this some even newer cartridge?

I want one now.

The .277 Fury is going to end up an orphan with the Military.

The .277 Fury in the higher pressure 80,000 psi composite three piece case eats barrels. To avoid this, the Army intends to use the lower pressure (and velocity) all-brass version of the .277 Fury for training purposes.

Which means that the sighting zeros will be vastly different between the two cartridges, the recoil is vastly different, and the training received with the lower recoil .277 all brass ammo will be less useful and meaningful when it comes time to use the full power .277 composite cased ammo in battle.

As a result, the .277 Fury will end up being a specialist weapon (designated marksman, etc.) while the rest of the regular troops will continue to use weapons chambered in the 5.56 NATO cartridge.

80,000 PSI?!? How loud is that going to be? Our soldiers will need silencers just to keep from going deaf before using the first magazine.

He did not recommend the .277 for home defense.

I have no clue why we are so stuck on straight side casings in this country.

Because we don't like high capacity magazines with 180 degree arcs in them.
