“Around 11:37 a.m., a Mexican airline reported the beginning of a disturbance due to passenger discontent on an Aeroméxico flight AM672,” according to the report. “The flight had been due to lift off at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, but because of a maintenance alert on the plane, the captain had to return to the gate for the required maintenance.”
“The passengers were unhappy and one of them opened the emergency door and stepped out on the wing,” the report said. The airport said the man had been turned over to police.
But dozens of fellow passengers signed a written copy of a statement saying the airline made them wait for four hours without ventilation or water while the flight was delayed. According to photos of the statement posted online, fellow passengers said he acted “to protect everyone, with the support of everyone.”

There was an incident several years ago where an AA headed to DFW landed at Austin(?) because of bad weather in Dallas. AA would not let passengers off the plane, even those that final destination was Austin. One passenger stated they could see their car in the parking lot from the plane. The pilot came on the intercom asking passengers to stop calling 911 saying they’re being held against their will.
(To your point) A friend of mine bought a discount ticket somewhere domestic. He had all the fees itemized somehow (He showed me). It was crazy- all the TSA, taxes, and fees were more than what the airlines charged for the actual flight.
The secret in getting away with such BS is that you can’t let the customer know and somehow hide these costs (build it into the chain, example carbon taxes like the EPA now levies and no one even cares about: it’s a tax everyone is paying) and you have to sell some imaginary threat: terrorism, environmentalism, covid, drug and human trafficking, bla bla bla.
Don’t get me wrong, there is usually some degree of truth there, covid does exist, the climate is changing... The problem is that the solutions proposed by government do absolutely NOTHING to fix any of this. They just make some people rich, expand the powers and grow government, get someone elected or booted from office, and give the media something to talk about...
That's odd. My son drives Uber. The other day, he turned down a few passengers because they were looking for rides to Houston after their plane was redirected due to weather. Houston is about 3 hours away by car.
