A mother who brought her toddler son to Walmart wearing nothing but a diaper in freezing weather has been charged with child neglect.
Kambria Gabrielle Darby, 26, was arrested in the car park of the store in Byram, Mississippi, a suburb of Jackson, about 10.30am on January 17.
The two-year-old boy was still 'freezing and shaking' even after another shopper bought him a long-sleeved shirt and pants and dressed him in the store.
Police put the boy in a warm car and called paramedics to assess him. Child Protective Services later took him away and released him to a relative, along with his two siblings.
Darby was charged with contributing to the neglect or delinquency of a child and booked into Hinds County Detention Center.
She faces up to six years in jail if convicted.
Temperatures plunged to below 20F that morning as a winter storm swept across the US, but the toddler had no shirt, socks, or shoes.
Felicia Nicole, a Walmart worker who confronted the mother along with other shoppers, said she was sacked after five years of service for posting video of the boy online.
'I don't feel sorry for her, she needs to be in jail... she shouldn't have done that to her baby,' she told DailyMail.com about the charges against Darby.
'Walmart doesn't care about their employees! I was only trying to help.'
After she was released on bail, Darby wrote an 656-word Facebook post defending herself, claiming she was being 'done like Jesus was'.
Attached to the post were 54 photos of her children that she claimed proved she was a good mother and not 'neglectful' or 'mentally ill'.
They included two of her kids at Disney World, posing with presents under a Christmas tree, and sitting on pumpkins on a farm.

This was appalling. Someone videod her throwing frozen food into the cart right in the toddler. She looks completely mentally challenged & has 2 more kids at home. Make it stop.
It’s a Dickens world out there. It makes us the stuff that is needed. Life is hurt. Life is not fair, kind, or happy. It shapes you for a purpose.
I saw the video on Twitter! Horrible mother! Sad that the employee was fired, but maybe she will go on to something better!

She takes pictures of every meal so no one can say she is a bad mother. What mother thinks or worries about that? That's what people do if they know they are doing something wrong! She will post half naked photos but wants to “protect her kids” so she doesn't post pictures of them. If she was so protective of them she wouldn't risk her crude pictures being used to taunt them later.
If she was so amazing, why has CPS been called so many times before ? (tbf I do know sometimes they are called by overzealous Karen's. It happened once to me but was cleared quickly with an apology from said Karen)
This brings me back to her dismissive behavior when she said it was not a big deal for them to call CPS or Police. I am horrified to even firmly correct my child publicly. I am embarrassed when they throw a fit. She was OK with this type of attention? What a piece of work! -20°, no clothes... MAY SHE GET MAXIMUM SENTENCING!

I am sure Walmart has some sort of policy about employees filming customers to prevent people of Walmart type photos/videos.

The walmart ex-employee made her mistake when she posted the Neglectful Mom incident onto the internet, for everyone to see. What she should have done, was take that video and either send it to her Boss, or at most, send it to the police. Most managers want to know first, if anything from their workplace is going to be sent to the police.
Most managers don’t want their nearby competitor stores knowing they seem to attract such troublesome customers.
It’s unfortunate that the policy is to fire such an employee, vs putting them on probation after counseling, then offering unpaid re-training classes. That’s how more retailers used to operate. Now, there are much fewer second chances.
